And he gets Jonathan Capehart to play along. Shame on you, Jonathan.

Unreal.

5. But what would that mean?
I'm trying to find out the significance of this?

Want to remind everyone that Obama has got Mandigo Blood running through his body?

7. Scarborough said, in so many words, some white folks probably would have preferred
the lighter version on Barack Obama than what he thinks they saw last night.

You asked.

Nobody else would touch it, except Capehart, who just made a permanent ass of himself.

and she can see Russia when she's laying in it, as far as I know.

Have they talked about that yet?

10. OP not correct, Capeheart introduced the notion
and tried to explain it, and a discussion followed (which I tuned out of).

20. You're totally wrong, Scarborough prompted him by saying "what do you see that is different"
about Barack Obama last night? And then Capehart answered. They discussed it in advance; the white guy gets cover by having the black guy appear to bring it up, and Capehart, good MSM soldier that he is, plays along and fools people like you.

the makeup was darker... or the lights.
I think Capehart knows,as a black man, what some idiots would have in the back of their mind.

What matters is we need his ability to get this country out of the mess it is in NOW thats to the white repugs.
BTW I am white.

15. Thank you. That was my point.
If they wanted to talk "race" they could have talked on the symbolic point that Obama was debating in Mississippi at Old Miss and the history behind that.

But I guess, skin color in a superficial way was more rewarding to the two assholes carrying on the discussion.

16. Maybe it is envy. Obama looks so good and so well.
Being McCain's age and paper white like him I enjoy looking at some one that looks as fit as Obama. If he looked darker it is most likely who he was standing beside. Joe can not seem to help him self. He will talk about anything even when he is full of hot air. He was the same in Congress.

18. WTF?!?!
Why is this not being called out for being the racist BS that it is? You don't fucking comment on someone's skin color because that has nothing to do with anything.

WTF?

I'm just... WHAT THE FUCK!

19. I would take it as a good sign,
if the other side has to resort to this.

I don't think it will do anything to help McCain as he has already had the racist vote locked up for some time.

21. They were even questioning if people would translate that to him looking "more sinister"
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 07:31 AM by KzooDem
I kid you not. They were pondering if this perceived difference in skin tone would make some people view Obama as "sinister."

I wanted to throw my cup of coffee at the TV.

Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 07:35 AM by deminks
I think they discussed it before hand. Joe Blow even brought up how "sinister" it made Obama look. Stunning racism. I thought my Saturday mornings were safe. I turned the set off, going outside while I can still breathe fresh air. I hope my grandchildren remember what it smells like.

Obama won, racist pigs on Morning Jerk, get over it.

24. truly the most outlandish topic yet
scabrous just proved he is a total waste of space

btw, Obama looked GREAT! And I did not notice his being darker, if in fact he did.

I did notice, however, that he is really slim. And I just hate him for that. In fact, shlumpy mcnumbnuts looked like my kinda guy. I particularly like it when he rolls up his sleeves and opens his collar, and his shirt is half untucked, with his gut hanging out a little. Now THAT is my kinda guy. I think I'll vote for him even though he is a brain-dead bigoted idiot, because his yellow teeth and pasty complexion make me feel all comfy and that skinny guy makes me feel fat.

26. I didn't read this nefarious implication to this issue
I thought the person who applied his makeup chose a shade too dark. It was a cosmetic misfire. Standing next to McCain, with his white hair reflecting the light, the comparison between the men looked even more startling. Perhaps it is simply my gender that prompts me to think this.

The one thing I have repeatedly noticed about Barack Obama's appearance the last few times he has publicly appeared, is how much he has aged the last two years. There is gray above his temples, and that too reflects the bright lights of the camera. And sadly, it reminds us of his mortality. What a gift this man is to the American public, but his contribution is a thing of the Now. And we need to appreciate that, how lucky we are to have a chance for this man to lead us out of the crater where Bush* has dumped us. I think this stressful election has taken its toll on this man only in his 40s. And I hate to think that. He hasn't even gotten to the hard part yet.

But looking at the overall appearance in the two men, their postures, their poise, their demeanor, it seemed strikingly obvious to me that Barack can go the distance of enduring these extremely critical future years ahead of us, but Mccain's ability to do so seems doubtful. (And we know his failure to do so would leave us with Sarah Palin.) This overall bigger picture seems the salient point to me, not the cosmetic misfire.

Another thing that reared its head as I watched Barack debate was the memory of Sarah Palin's first public speech. She constantly demeaned Barack and took sarcastic, cutting barbs toward him. His impressive performance last time coupled with the memory of her attacks on him that night made her look even more unacceptable. With his command of the facts and her obvious lack thereof, she makes fun of him? What a gross miscalculation on her part.

and I turned the channel. Frankly, I didn't notice - I was too busy just being impressed with Senator Obama, and pissed and pissed at McNasty. His refusal to even look at Senator Obama was just so damned offensive! Churlish, condescending, and nasty!

40. joe just can't forget he went to Bama. perhaps he was trying to imply that
obama looked more like a field slave than a house slave.

field slave = dangerous, inarticulate, can't have them around your wife or daughter, too crude

house slave = more refined, more articulate, more manners.

in the bizarro world of joe's upbringing, obama will always be a slave of some sort. his mission is to convince people that obama isn't the tolerable type you'd let work in your house, but the mean, half-animal type who you'd work to death in your fields.
