Some Random Points About The Debate
1) It's hard for me to judge because I am biased and emotionally invested in Obama's victory...Your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband is always the most beautiful/handsome and intelligent person in the world.

2) Obama won All THE snap polls and at the end of the day that's all that matters:

http://time-blog.com/real_clear_politics/2008/09/the_post_debate_polls.html

3) Al Gore destroyed George Bush in their first debate but the main stream media robbed him of his victory when they showed him sighing and looking contemptuously and exasperated when Bush would speak...John McCain made all kinds of puerile faces while Senator Obama was speaking and was openly condescending...Will the main stream media hold him to the same standards? Will they?

4) The debate about the debates has begun...I hope we win it...

5) John McCain sucks...He is the meanest bastard ever to run for president, devoid of any redeeming qualities...He makes Richard Nixon look like Mother Teresa...

2. Three
I would attribute McInsane's imperious nature and contempt for his opponent to racism but McInsane treated Romney, the only Republicant to seriously challenge him, the same way...

3. The thing that ties the two together is ...
his sense of entitlement. He comes off like he fells entitled and that no "upstart" should even be allowed in his way.

5. At least Nixon took Kissinger's advice
Nixon was power hungry, but he was a realist about foreign policy. He knew you had to shake some unsavory hands.

8. Your #3 -- isn't it great?!
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 07:08 AM by Sparkly
I thought Gore won all three debates with the Chimp, and I thought Kerry just wiped the floor with him. Still, what people responded to, as you said, were matters of personal something-or-other. Who's tough, who do you like, things like that.

For once, we've got the candidate with "Likeable" in the bag. It's not the thing that most matters to me (and I found Gore and Kerry both extremely 'likeable'), but it's a kick to see it play out this way for a change. Despite the punditry insisting things were equal last night, people saw it differently.

As I saw it, Obama won hands down on both style AND substance!

I can't wait to see the polls in the next few days. :)

And they got it on camera a lot.

Compare it to mcnumbnuts forced grimace and... well you can't compare. It's apples and oranges. No, wait: it's a hershey's kiss and dog poop.

13. Yes -- I liked it when he turned to Lehrer after heated exchanges McCain wouldn't let go of
and politely invited the next question, with a smile and a "please." Very cool and dignified.

"Grimace" -- thank you, that's the word! Half sneer, half grin, very tense and weird.

11. There Is A Difference Between Intelligence And Wisdom
I'm not saying Al has or had a deficit in either department but wouldn't it have been nice if somebody told him a lot of people won't like it if you act like Bush* is an idiot even if you think he is...

14. I'm Watching Morning Joe
The two men who purport to speak for "everyman"-Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough , pointed out the fact that McBastard sneered when Obama talked, was openly contemptuous, and didn't look him in the eye...

15. I thought Obama was a virtual saint for not taking McCain's bait.
First, there was the reference about earmarks to study bear DNA (or something like that). Obama could have hopped all over McBush for choosing Palin, Miss Let's-Study-the-Crabs-On-the-Bridge/Road-to-Nowhere, but he didn't. At the end, when McBush got all fuzzy over veterans - "I love the veterans" - he could have mentioned all of McCain's votes against veterans. But he didn't. I also noticed McCain mentioned his work to account for the POWs from Vietnam and wonder if that might drive a new commercial from somewhere. There are people who say McCain, for political reasons, ignored evidence that Americans were left behind after the Vietnam War.
