GOP concerned about Palin
A growing number of Republicans are expressing concern about Sarah Palin’s uneven — and sometimes downright awkward — performances in her limited media appearances. Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, a former Palin supporter, says the vice presidential nominee should step aside. Kathryn Jean Lopez, writing for the conservative National Review, says “that’s not a crazy suggestion” and that “something’s gotta change.” Tony Fabrizio, a GOP strategist, says Palin’s recent CBS appearance isn’t disqualifying but is certainly alarming. “You can’t continue to have interviews like that and not take on water.” “I have not been blown away by the interviews from her, but at the same time, I haven’t come away from them thinking she doesn’t know s—t,” said Chris Lacivita, a GOP strategist. “But she ain’t Dick Cheney, nor Joe Biden and definitely not Hillary Clinton.”

=====

This would be a huge story if there weren't so much other crap going on. Palin is seen as shockingly inept. She is becoming a joke. The VP debate could be a killer.

1. She's dangerously inept
I was seriously intimidated by her when I first saw her before she spoke - and thought - oh, NO - but now, I'm like oh YES! My only concern is if they were to somehow get in, and she became..... PRESIDENT PALIN! Really terrifying - she's so outta her league.

2. No shit, Sherlock! I just wonder how it would play for McCain if he changed to another VP.
I think he certainly should unload her for a different choice if he were smart. She's killing him.

But I don't see him changing course and/or picking a different VP, because that would be admitting he was wrong.

Now, where have we seen that attitude before? Hmmmm.

3. I believe he'll dump her very soon.
Had he failed miserably last night, he wouldn't care, but with the likes of Fox News encouragement, he probably feels he came away from the debate a winner and is "back in the running". Therefore, he HAS to now take any and all steps necessary to remain afloat. He KNOWS what he has to do... he HAS to throw the bag of rocks overboard.

5. If they could come up with a half credible excuse
I think she'd probably be gone, but what would that be?

6. I've been saying all along that her safe OUT is troopergate.
"I'm afraid I've become a burden to the campaign".

7. Trouble with that one is that she'd have to face the music in Alaska
and might not surviuve as governor.

10. I don't think she cares any more. I think the woman is feeling tired, used,
abused and scared to death. I think she realizes what a horrible mistake she made. I think she'd rather go back to Alaska and live under a bridge than continue one more day as McCain's bitch.

4. McCain--Palin Like an Evangelical Covenant Marriage
The McCain--Palin ticket is like those no-divorce "Covenant Marriages" that the Religious Right is pushing. Sarah Palin is along until the end of the ride, to have and to hold, until Death do you part in November. McCain can't kick her off the ticket without infuriating the Religious Right, and without them, he will definitely, positively lose in November.

This is a fascinating election. I think it's the first time that I can remember when the siamese-twin Conservative/Republican ticket looks likely to go down not because of personalities (Oh, GHW Bush was a poor campaigner and he voted to RAISE TAXES, Blah, blah, blah...), but because the whole ideological and political set-up run up during Reagan's time and afterwards has FINALLY been discredited.

:nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

I am feeling quite pleased.

8. At first glance it seems unlikely that McCain would try to

replace Palin, even if he is furious with her being chosen. McCain claims to have been the decider but there's suspicious vibes that the Far Right power brokers did the choosing.

However you want to interpret it, Palin's media performances have been negatives and in the coming week, I doubt if her standing improves. When even the Right is grumbling, the red flags are of a deep hue.

It's tasty for us that the Republicans are having an internal squabble about whether to dump their own veep nom owing to her gross incompetence.

15. Republicans NEVER Accept Blame
Republicans NEVER accept blame...the McCain campaign will blame Hillary Clinton, Paula Jones, or Monica Lewinsky for losing.
