Sean Hannity objects to "book learning"
I watched the replay of "Hannity And Colmes" because I had already seen the stuff on the other channels.

I was immensely amused by Hannity mocking Barack's "book knowledge." It reminded me of the parents of the dumb kids I went to school with. The parents would promote their kids by saying that they might not be "book smart" but they excelled in other ways.

I suspect that Hannity is one of those that isn't "book smart."

I just found this highly amusing. That, and that 86% of Fox viewers thought that McCain won the debate.

1. The best part is
after that segment (that included Obama's campaign spokesperson), Hannity looked at something and you could tell he knew McCain was fucked.

20. I agree with you on that - Bob Gibbs DISARMED Hannity.
I've never seen it happen before, I'm going to throw a link up as soon as I find it out there in the ether.

And the ease with which he did it was fantastic. He didn't play into Sean's temper, in fact looked distracted and like he didn't care about the exchange.

My favorite part was at the end of their exchange. Hannity said something typically inflammatory like, "I've got a lot to say about the fact that Obama has no experience" and Gibbs said something to the effect of "I'm sure you do" and reached out smiling to shake his hand so he could go.

It was a thing of beauty.

5. Nothing new. Republicans have been trying to tear down the value of being smart and well
educated since at least Eisenhower's "ivory tower academicians." That is what the "elitist" label is about, not wealth. Pubs never put down wealth (nor do I).

6. Ill-gotten gains is wealth.
Much of the major wealth today involves chicanery and being adverse to that doesn't make you an elitist.

8. When he hears the word "intellectual," he reaches for his sidearm.
One of the major goals of neoconservatism is the dismantling of education. They need us ignorant enough to fall for their shit.

Fox is a leader in this effort, from the excesses of reality TV right on down to the piss-puddle that is their "journalism."

10. this is a common attitude among fundamentalists
I got through college entirely at my own expense (no parental help at all), and my dad would frequently get angry at the idea of people in colleges publishing books.

I was forced to drop out of honors track courses in college, my parents were very upset at my grades: perfect 4.0.

to Couric when explaining why she never got a passport until recently.

I'll bet Hannity loved THAT answer. Freakng dumbass.

She doesn't sound like a person who's read a lot of books. Maybe they were all Harlequin romance novels.

14. only the uneducated put down education...
It's a fact that the more you know (the more education you have), the more liberal you become. This is precisely why fundies love home schooling -- it's a great way to dumb down the populace and erode the public school system.

23. Umm.... we homeschool:-)
And a big part of why we do it is because I want my children to have a superior education, unbound by the constraints of the typical public school curriculum. I know many many homeschooling families and we probably all are in it for slightly different reasons, but one thing I can say for certain: all of us homeschool our children because we feel it is the very best thing that we can do for our individual kids. It has nothing to do with sociological aims such as "dumbing down the populace" or "eroding the public school system".:)

16. I looked it up because I was interested into Mr. Hannity's education.
He is a NYU drop-out. He does have an honorary degree from Liberty University, however. As we all know a TOP university.

I don't want to attack someone's education level, but when you call someone elite...

I usually take an odd pleasure to reading and watching right wingers contort the truth, but Hannity is unwatchable/listenable to me.

26. He's speaking to the core
the GOP falls into two broad camps: the billionaire/millionaires and the dumb ass middle class who somehow think that the GOP speaks to them. They're afraid of anyone with a brain--that's why they loved Bush so much.
