Focus Group Line Drops When McCain Mentions Sarah Palin
Focus Group Line Drops When McCain Mentions Sarah Palin
Submitted by C Costigan on Fri, 09/26/2008 - 23:13.

One of the most interesting elements of the Friday night Presidential debate was the focus group lines that were colored for Republican, Democrat and Independents. These lines showed how real Americans (not political pundits) felt about what was being said during the debate.

Barack Obama did have an edge with the focus groups to be certain, especially noticeable during the final minutes.

But what was perhaps the most shocking reaction: When Republican John McCain made mention of his "Maverick" partner, without saying Sarah Palin's name outright, the focus group lines dipped dramatically.

Has the Sarah Palin love fest ended already?

1. I couldn't believe he mentioned his "running mate" either.

2. Sarahcuda had her 15 minutes and has been exposed as a complete lightweight.
America is done with her.

She would have to tie Joe Biden in their debate to even come close (the expectations are so low now that all she has to do is be coherent and get most of her facts straight to tie). But I don't see her holding her own. I expect it to be painful to watch and a huge embarrassment to McCain.

Furthermore, I expect people to get angry with McCain for trying to pass her off as a legitimate contender. The blame will shift to him for this debacle. It could be really dramatic.

3. He was on a roll until he referred to Sarah. I was like, 'Thanks for reminding
everybody about your albatross!'

4. I had the same reaction. Major gaffe for McShame
It shed a very harsh light of contrast between two intelligent, knowledgable guys (I include McCain), and the beauty queen wannabe. That was not the mental picture the American people wanted just then...

5. I was watching it on CNN and noticed that, too.
It also dipped at the end when he said "prisoner," talking about the POW experience. Guess that train has left the station.
