McCain: A man who is being consumed increasingly by his fear of playing in the big leagues

You see it in baseball everyonce in a while, a bright prospect that works there way up thru the minors and when they get to the majors they freeze. Back down to the minors they work on it and then another chance. Some never get around it and their career never gets to the big show.

McCain has shown increasing avoidance in everything he does. Obviously he has changed completely the relaxed interchange he used to have with the media. He used to sit back and share the bull and play poker with them. Now he is petrified in having a real press conference. The townhalls - gone.

Tonight he was absolutely frozen in a state of avoidance of Obama. He could not focus on him. The pictures are really revealing even when he is shaking hands with Obama he is looking away with a frozen stare.

Even his penchant for the stunt a day on the campaign is a reflection of the fear that seems to be consuming him. Palin, Suspending the Campaign, Freezing all Spending. He has become a story in search of a headline. He is afraid.

1. He's torn between beleiveing it's his destiny and he's owed the presidency and his
mortal fear of actually having to accomplish something in his career.

He KNOWS he's not up to the job but he still thinks he's owed it. Bizarre, but true.

2. I think he wants to win the election but subconsciously doesn't want to inherit
the day to day job that would in fact kill him

3. It's his fear of losing; he grew up, but it's not going to happen.
He is an inferior candidate. And he knows it.

7. well, he only won the primary by default.
He was the last man standing after the other ones canceled out for one reason or another. He's not up to snuff, and neither is his running mate.

He's yet another Reagan wanna-be (the * is another) who don't make the grade. Even Reagan was no Reagan--he was a phony too. It was all an image.

5. McCain
I think that his biggest fear is that more people will learn of his real behavior when he was a POW.It is forgivable that he broke down over there, it is not forgivable that accepts the hero status so generously given to him. His guilt is consuming him, and sooner or later he will flip out.

6. It struck me that he was looking at Obama as he would a Vietnamese Prison Guard

head down and face averted with contempt just hidden behind a frozen smile.

He never interacted with Obama and maintained his superiority and disdain for an inferrior object.

10. Dunno. I think it's more related to him seeing his dream slipping away.
Thus resorting to the campaign tactics he once reviled and seeking support from people he once scorned.
