One thing Obama did right.
And I was very glad to see this. When McCain brought up his $5000 tax credit for health care, Obama pointed out that McCain's plan makes employer-provided health care taxable income.

That ALONE should put McCain out of contention. I still don't see how he plans to get away with that--and I don't think his rebuttal to Obama's point helped him any either.

C ya,

1. That was a big one!
I'm very glad he got that point in!

I don't even remember what McCain said in rebuttal...

It was very non-memorable!

2. He said he wouldn't turn health care over to the federal government,
blah blah blah. At which point I said, "Why not? We're turning the financial sector over to the federal government!"

6. McCain
I guess he forgot about medicare, the VA, and his own healthcare plan, all of which are run by the Gov.

3. My insurance is $1,000 month
But I get a huge subsidy. $400 a month wouldn't help me at all. The unions should be all over the business tax, it's going to make negotiations impossible.

4. You are so right! I too was very glad to hear that. I told a friend from work
that little tidbit the other night; we were over in their garage having a beer and watching the Twins after her hubby did the brakes on Ruby, and she had not heard that. She was just shocked - "Are you SERIOUS?? He wants us to do WHAT???" I told her again, and told her some places on line to check to verify what I was telling her.
She sat there really quiet for about 45 seconds. Then she looked at me and said, "I'm glad you told me that." She didn't say any more about it, so I'm guessing she was leaning McLame or was on the fence. I don't think she is any more!

That asshole should sink like a stone after tonight.

5. A few subtle things I noticed.
Obama proudly mentioned Biden and his credentials. After a week of the Palin/Couric tapes, that was a good reminder.

When Obama mentioned veterans and taking care of their needs he could have mentioned any number of conditions, but he said post traumatic stress disorder. I think he chooses his words carefully.
