And yes, he's talking about Obama. Great summary and grades from a guy I don't always agree with.

1. Understatement from the wrong angle
Voters attracted back to reality by the bailout crisis mean the whole game is up. The GOP might be lucky to survive at all.

9. Oh, The Rethugs Will Survive, BUT...
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 06:24 AM by VogonGlory
Oh, the Rethugs will survive, but to paraphrase the words of Zell (Turncoat) Miller, they'll be "a national party no more."

The Rethugs will find themselves increasingly confined to the former Confederate States, and the Intermountain West. OK, and Alaska, too.

3. Yup. I took detailed notes from Charlie Rose - link below

Plus - Brooks just said that Sarah Palin is a disaster. He couldn't watch the Couric interview.

6. Nice to see the we weren't the only ones who saw this...

Defense:

He managed to ignore most of Obama's jibes, but was eventually baited into giving an extended answer about his policy differences with President Bush, after his opponent repeatedly mentioned McCain's regular support of Bush's budgets. Was visibly riled when clashing with Obama over a variety of issues, including Iraq, sanctions, and spending. He also chose to boast about Sarah Palin (although not by name) as his maverick partner, who, after her shaky week, may no longer be his ace in the hole.

8. After tonight, I do not believe there will be two more Presidential debates.
My guess is one more Presidential debate and no VP debate - the republicans will cut their losses regardless of the blow back.

10. Yes and foreign policy should have been McCain's strength
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 06:26 AM by Schulzz
Obama's strong first half of the debate makes me confident that the third debate won't be even close. Don't know about that townhall thing, that depends on the questions.

11. Interesting
Thanks for posting. A few things:

1. I've never heard McCain bring up Reagan multiple times before. Is this new? (All it does is for me is bring up how much I detested Reagan!)

2. " presentation was further hindered by his wandering discussion of the differing heights of North and South Koreans and his angry assertion about how well he knows Henry Kissinger."
Yep, weird.
Really...honestly...what audience cares about how close you are to Kissinger? And for many of us, Kissinger is merely a familiar name...when was the last time he was relevant? Why do 18-40 years old people care about Henry?!
