My take on it. Obama wins.

As a defense hawk, I have to give props to McCain, who displayed facility and understanding of certain issues at a deep level. Obama did OK that way and stayed in contention.

But the debate reminded me of Reagan/Carter in 1980. (I voted for Carter, BTW.) Carter displayed superior insight and knowledge, but Reagan simply appeared more Presidential, and didn't make any obvious screw ups on camera.

Barack Obama simply outclassed McCain in that department, and in all other ways held up well. The significant message is the subliminal one: "I am strong, and I will lead you well." Obama delivered. McCain didn't. Stick a fork in him by donating another $50 to the Obama campaign.

1. I wish someone on Obama's team would come up with a good

way for Obama to be just as condescending to McCain as McCain was to him. It should be done in a subtle way but McCain acted like he was "schooling" Obama. Snarky little shit McCain.
