1. I'd say it's fear
but it comes off as loathing.

Ultimately I'd say it's fear and loathing.

3. I think McCain was afraid that if he looked at Obama
he's forget what he was supposed to say.

12. Insecurity and some sense of lingering guilt... He knew he was
lying and being very dishonorable--witness the constant blinking. Rove was unable to totally take away his conscience, unlike Bush* who never had one to begin with.

2. Tweety should ask McCain why he can't look at Obama.
But alas, McCain doesn't talk to the press.

He couldn't hide it tonight.

13. I'd say it's more likely arrogance and intentional rudeness-
"he isn't worthy of my gaze" or an attempt to lead others to discount Obama subconsiously.

"la, la, la, you aren't here"

I don't think it was very smart- or presidential- but my view of what constitutes a good leader and McCain's are poles apart.

He's a rude, sarcastic, sad old man.

14. It wasn't just the lack of eye contact.
McCain spent all his time while Obama was responding smirking and chuckling. He looked like a complete dick.

People don't like assholes. McCain's going to have to figure that out. They don't care if you're "Miss Congeniality," but you can at least be respectful.
