37. I think Obama needed to be STRONGER!! He needed to be vivid and show alittle more passion.
Obama had some REAL zingers and I was totally proud of him. I wish he had been stronger on the economy and talked about the USA's awful loss of jobs~~

He needs to connect with folks who have lost jobs, lost homes.

Like they have said.....NAME THE COMPANIES WHO HAVE DONE THE THOUSANDS OF LAY-OFFS!!!!!

We feel their pain, please Senator Obama, acknowledge our people!!!!

8. THANK YOU FOR HAVING GUTS TO SAY THIS
I have gotten some pretty tough replies for calling it like it was. Obama MISSED opportunity after opportunity to expose McCain for the creep that he is. How is the Obama campaign to know if everyone looks at Obama through a ROSE COLORED LENS? I want him to win more than anything in this world. Our country DEPENDS ON IT. He has to buck up to McCain! Nice isn't going to get it.

35. Reputation? 700 posts is funny to you?
I didn't realize that we were in a "contest" here to see who could make the most posts! Gosh, I'm just so not as important as you! The only reputation that I worry about is HONESTY. Obama (my hero by the way) totally missed a lot of opportunities tonight to put McPalin in his place.

28. Less important than the words said is the personality projected. Obama came across as strong yet
reasonable--presidential--and McCain came across as a bitter old man.

32. You are so right about that.
But; Obama missed a lot of shots he could have taken with class that he so obviously has and looked even better. In order to regain our standing in the world we need to have Obama elected by a vast majority, not a slim margin. That way the rest of the world will see that we the people are not going to allow our country to be run by idiots any longer. I was just disappointed that he let so many things go by without calling McCain on his lies and was way too complimentary of McCain for me to accept. Just my humble opinion.

40. I actually thought Obama spent too much time calling McCain on his lies. If all you're doing is
playing defense, your opponent has won. A lot of people hardly even know or care who said what, they just see you having to defend yourself like you're getting beat up all the time. What works best is a quick one sentence defense, then pivot to an attack or a statement of your presidential vision for the next four years.

I also agree with Matthews that Barack let too much time be dominated by a relatively small issue--earmarks--that insane McCain somehow sees as the root of all evil in this world (even though they account for less than 1% of the federal budget, and are frequently a worthwhile expenditure).

Whereas, McSame came off as a mean-spirited, closed-minded shit. Now, you tell me, after 8 years of a belligerent, incurious, child with the lowest approval rating in history, who do you think the majority of the American people will vote for?

Most people are tired of drama and childish games when it comes to the leadership of our nation. I think you're exaggerating the amount of times that Senator Obama said that McSame was right. I think you wanted some bloodbath smackdown. Sorry to disappoint. I believe there's a channel for that - www.thefightnetwork.com

15. Obama has good manners. Many Americans no longer understand
the importance of simple good manners and politeness. Obama is being himself, and he should not behave like a jerk for the sake of a few points on the debate scoreboard.

Anyone over about the age of 40 will GET what he is about and respect that. Younger people may not know what good manners ARE.

The man is showing us how truly presidential he is, how intelligent and POISED and calm under pressure. If that's not what people want in a leader, they can vote for the cranky old man.

feature and have read many of your posts. You are, I believe, an activist that is very passionate about your convictions. Just a piece of advice from a long time DU'er, you will attract a lot more bees with honey than you will with vinegar. Kinda like what Obama is doing, you have a short amount of time and small number of posts, you also seem to have a react rather than respond quality about you. You all but called me a racist the other night in a post. Had you done what I did with you and use the search feature, type my name in the search box, you may have found out a little more about me before making such a divisive comment. If you noticed I did not react I responded, both in this post and in the post with the Redneck comment that you felt compelled the reply to. Have you bothered to check my reply to your comments in the "Redneck" thread. Probably not, calm down, a Black man has done more to win the hearts and minds of a majority of Americans than many of his Democratic party predecessors.

Just in case you are curious about my reply to your comments as well as the others on that "Redneck" thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7174461&mesg_id=7186572

42. Sorry it took me so long, Rebellious, I had to find the thread.
I read my response to your 'redneck' post and I don't consider it 'divisive' at all. Secondly, I didn't call you a racist, either. I simply pointed out the stereotpical reaction to the term. Honestly, I think comedians such as Jeff Foxworthy, are helping to change the term to one of endearment (btw, I love the blue collar tour). I apologize if I offended you, as that was not my intent.

25. I think Obama already has your vote, but the indies hate the cat fight aspect of politics. If you
watched CNN, the response of the indies always--always--dropped significantly the moment a personal attack spilled out of McCain's mouth.

Plus, maybe the most effective debating tactic is to find an area to show agreement with your opponent, which projects you as being reasonable, before you then stick the knife into your opponent.

The reaction polls will show that Obama clearly won this debate, and the angry attack dog--the type of person Matthews and Buchanan says Obama needs to be--lost.
