2. Yeap, Obama strengthened a percieved weakness and didn't look like a light weight vs.
...McSame while McSame didn't fuck up during the debate.

Obama also came off more pragmatic

4. I'm surprised
I thought it was a hard-fought tie. But hey, if the polls and pundits move the needle in our direction, that's great.

just like Gore's sighing in 2000... You don't look very bipartisan if you can't even make eye contact w/ your opponent.

17. I agree heart and soul.
Athough I will say, McCain may not be much of a campaigner, (he really sucks at it), the man does have a good grasp of foreign policy, and while I don't agree with his positions, he does state them fairly well. What I think will hurt him was his anger, he was one Obama comment away from flipping out. It looked bad, and I think this will not help him. Obama was respectful, direct, and that guy is so fucking cool it is amazing. McCain looked angry and petulent at times, as if talking down to his grandson. I don't think it flies.

Pakistan wasn't a failed state in the late 90s, it was just overturned by Musharraf. It was a country with problems, but not a failed state.

McCain said the invasion of Iraq would be easy, you can see the video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEtZlR3zp4c

He can't tell the difference between Al Qaeda (which is Sunni and fighting the shi'ite) and Iranian extremists (who are Shi'ite). That is like a religious expert not knowing the difference between Protestants and Catholics.

Despite what McCain says about Somalia, he called for a precipitous withdrawal (which is different than a phased withdrawal). Al Qaeda was in Somalia.

McCain once called Putin the president of Germany.

He seemed to think Spain was a latin american country

He joked about bombing Iran.

etc.

He makes tons of gaffes. Whether those are due to a total misunderstanding of the facts or just verbal gaffes is something I don't know. But he does not inspire confidence in me to be honest.

When Obama said Ahmadinejad wasn't the most powerful man in Iran that inspired me with confidence to be honest. The Iranian constitution makes the Ayatollah the commander in chief, not the president. To me that showed Obama knew somewhat more than McCain.

22. KO announced Knowledge Network results.
I was disqualified from that earlier in the week because I was too pro-Obama. He said 40% voted Obama, 38% voted Undecided, and 22% voted McCain in that one. I think I got kicked out because I admitted that nothing would change my mind. Oh well, I wasn't gonna lie! GObama! :kick:

29. That and surprisingly the press doesn't seem to be hiding the fact.
Both CNN and MSNBC seem to be trending Obama. Could McCain's little stunt with the press + Palin have lead him to lose his base (the press) permanently?

34. Any hope of the media, outside of Fox, cheerleading the Republican ticket fell by the wayside when..
...the McCain campaign said the press had to be deferential to Sarah Palin. Game over, man.

For low information voters. Who can swing the election, regrettably.

41. That's great news. And I see posts all over today - undecideds,
independents, and even some republicans coming over to Obama. Apparently must be because of last nights debate. And I believe the next two debates will be even better for Obama. We are gaining ground.
