Gergen has the shovel out for McCain

Says the early polling numbers showing an Obama win are devestating for McCain. Drew a parallel with JFK's first debate with Nixon, where he exceeded expectations and rode the momentum to victory. This needed to be McCain's night, he said, and it wasn't.

4. I think you need to change the title so that people understand that you meant that he is digging

McCain's grave and not that he was shoveling for him

Gergen was saying that Obama repeated Kennedy's performance by having the younger man stand toe to toe with the guy that's been around for decades and that means that Obama won.

Also pointed out that McCain needed a knockout and that its all down hill from here for McCain

7. I really do like David Gergen, and not just because he said that

He's always so fair-minded even though he served in a Republican administration. I think I trust his objective opinion more than anyone else's (even if I don't always agree with him).
