My general impressions. First, Obama won this thing.
Second. John McCain lied or was downright WRONG on several points.

Third. Obama looked cool, calm, intelligent, and collected to McCain's rankled, smirking, pastier version of George W. Bush.

Fourth and perhaps MOST important: NOTHING McCain said would appeal to undecided voters and independents. He was talking like a Republican TO a Republican.

Finally-- given McCain's gaffes on his GREATEST strength hurts him. Obama did not have any fuck-ups. This is either not going to be a game-changer or it will result in a slight shift to Obama.

For the first debate, not bad. NEXT week is going to be the game-changer. the VP debate.
