Jim Lehrer: WORST moderator evah!
Seriously:

- Interrupted candidates, cut them off often
- Broke discussions just when they were getting interesting
- Gave the last word to McCain just about all the time
- Posed questions awkwardly
- Repeated questions that were already answered (bailout)

Please, use anyone else. Lehrer can't moderate his way out of a wet paperbag.

2. Wrong. Lehrer was brief, didn't interrupt often, and let them talk lots. Great moderator. The Dean.

He was trying to choreograph too much.

6. I saw all those things and thought Lehrer was good.
I like how he cuts back to the issue.

Jim Lehrer is what I think the profession is at its best. I always turn to the Newshour when I want to understand the underlying issue or cut through the spin/talking points.

and that's why he keeps getting the job.

15. I disagree. I think Jim did a very good job. He managed to get
the discussion going and at least got Barack talking directly to McNuts...even though McNuts wouldn't look at Barack! I thought his questions were good ones and prompted good discussions. I don't know what you want from a moderator?

16. Jim Lehrer did great.
Devoted enough time at the start to the bailout bill.

Asked for reactions to what the other said, etc.

20. Not the worst moderator ever, but an awkward, poor debate format
When I think of 2004, I think of how short a period of time John Kerry had to get out his answers, and how crisp and to-the-point it made him sound.

This debate format was too muddled and awkward in comparison. It felt almost out of control.

Bring back the lights!

23. Is it the moderators job to call bullshit when he hears it?
or should he just let it go and leave it up to the other candidate to refute?

That's what frustrated me the most.

25. I have no idea why he keeps getting the moderator position of the debates.
Lehrer was so bad in the Gore/Bush debate I wrote him a scathing letter. He was a slightly better moderator with Kerry/Bush, but tonight he was very weak link.
