were delegates -- they had i.d.'s around their neck that said Wash,D.C.) I walked over. Boy, were they ever skittish and who could blame them? I felt bad for startling them. They were old, white, shabby and so, so tired-looking. The seventy-ish guy had a bad "Mel Torme" hair piece and the women were frumps, nothing like the peppy alcoholics MSNBC kept cutting away to. "How did the convention go?" I asked, extra nicely.
"Very nice," one of them answered... "Real well." I wondered how anyone could ever describe the evening's hate fest as "very nice" but all that came out of my mouth was, "I watched it on TV." And then it struck me -- These simpletons are the same fuckers you hear about in WWII documentaries, whose humdrum little lives were suddenly spiced up and filled with importance when they assumed local Nazi party posts and in turn became Hitler's greatest asset, the "foot soldier" These three tired looking people who seemed utterly harmless and impossible to hate are actually the key to "their" agenda. How perfect. They were so ordinary.
And then it dawned on me why they looked so tired -- it was because an hour earlier, they were in an orgasmic frenzy, screaming and drooling over Zel's evil mantra, waving cardboard signs. It was that same happy but pooped-out look my dog used to have after rolling around in a pile of cow dung for an hour. "Fuck these evil, evil people", I thought before I walked off.
What is my point? We must give THEM no quarter. And "THEM" is anyone who's an accomplice, willing or not. Whether its easing up on the "Bush twins" or not immediately pouncing when your patriotism is challenged for speaking your mind or failing to call the media out on a distortion. IT ALL MATTERS. These sickos get more and more brazen when left unchecked. They mistake silence for a green-light to amp up attacks. They mistake kindness for stupidity. All of our actions and inactions makes a difference. This is the real war.
