Because Mr. McCain can't stand to look Mr. Obama in the eye makes him more uncomfortable with trying to face the lies he's been telling. It does necessarily mean it's a racist thing. (Not saying Mr. McCain IS NOT racist, but not everything a person does makes them that way.)

Playing the race card, I believe, hurts when it cannot be proven. There are too many people who play it and it eventually becomes an anchor.
