Was Palin trying to say 'caricature'?
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 11:54 AM by Kurt_and_Hunter
That 'carrot' sound-byte continues to puzzle. All I can figure is that she started to say caricature, but thought better of it. (Or was afraid to mispronounce it.)

3. I saw it exactly as you did. Not sure of exactly what the word was
or how to pronounce it.

People who don't read sometimes have a problem with big words.

4. 'caricature' makes the most sense in context, but making sense isn't her forte either
After her molecule comments I'd go with "keratinize".

5. That's exactly what I thought she was trying to say. I wish Couric used that
instead of mocked.

6. I seriously doubt that the word "caricature" is in her "vocabulary"..

She is as ignorant as a pile of crap (which makes sense). :silly:

7. my guess is she was trying to say caricature or characterize
either way, it was weird to criticize the media for laughing at the whole "I live near Russia therefore I have foreign policy experience" argument and then turn around and make that very same argument again.

Putin must be laughing his ass off today...when he's not, you know, all up in Alaska's airspace and stuff.

9. I thought 'caricature' too.
Sad...I would have given her vocab points for that one, even though it shouldn't be a high score vocab word...she's graded on a curve. However, I didn't give her points because she forgot what the word was.

11. She was to busy trying to say derisivley "You know how reporters all suck" you can completly see it
her body language at that point and hear it in her word reporters that came out but she didnt finish the sentence because Couric bailed her out with the word Mocked and Palin attached to that and shifted her body back to reach out again.

12. Yes.....That's what I think.
At the last breath, she decided that the word might be too cosmopolitan.....and show her to be a bit smarter than what she is portraying.

I'm almost feeling that the McCain Campaign has instructed her to play dumb till her debate. Kinda of like a Marylin Monroe who suddently shows that she's smarter then the character she played in the movies.

Kind of like that Judy Holliday Movie from the 50s

17. I think she was torn between "caricature" and "characterize"
And probably stopped herself from coming out with "caricaturize" because she thought that wasn't quite right.

19. She certainly latched onto the "shore up the economy" phrase.
In the snippets I heard she used it three times.

The way she speaks reminds me of boosh. She starts speaking without really knowing what she's going to say & meanders about, repeating phrases & using words she thinks make her sound knowledgeable, all the while never really saying anything.

Holy shit, can we get some smart people in office for once?
