I think I'm having a panic attack because of the trauma of the last 2 elections.
I am so worried that somehow McCain is going to emerge from this smelling like a rose, that I honestly feel on the verge of hyperventilating. Why is it that today feels beyond pivotal to me? I think it's because they had that interview with the filmmaker that did the documentary of Lee Atwater on Morning Joe earlier and I watched it and now I'm totally freaked out because once again, this is a fear driven situation. The Republicans have been exploiting fear in middle America for years upon years now, and it's nearly always worked to their advantage. Will someone please, as Maddow says, talk me down??????

:scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

P.S. The thought of Palin as potential Commander in Chief if McCain wins and then kicks the bucket makes me want to run for the hills.

1. I don't know if I can be of much help...

I just keep telling myself that Obama has been running an amazingly effective campaign. I have confidence that he can frame this McCain ploy as the pollitical stunt that it is and stay on top... hell, even gain ground... when it all comes down.

In reality, we'll have to see how it all shakes out. More importantly, how the media portrays McCain's role in the bail out.

Have faith that Obama can handle whatever comes his way.

2. I'm not worried about Obama. It's the media spin that is going to
ensue today. One way or the other. I just changed the channel though. I did have MSNBC on and all they were doing was looping McCain back over and over again. I'm just touchy all around right now. We're in the last like month and half to two months of the deployment and I've been having nightmares about my husband getting killed and McCain/Palin would take us to war with Iran, I just know it.

15. I think some in the media are beginning to realize what they have served up for all of us.
In the last several days I feel that the media spin has slowed a bit. Look at the video of Katie and Palin. The look in Katie's eyes makes me wonder if she has thrown her meds away and decided to join the rest of us in the real world. I think the tide is beginning to turn here.

If you do feel panicky sit in a comfortable chair... breath in through your nose slowly and out through your nose slowly. Close your eyes and continue to breath. Your body will begin to relax. Yoga has saved my life in situations like this.

When I find myself worrying about the worst I give my mind permission to envision the future turning out just how I want it to. See you husband walk off the plane and the hugs and smiles and tears. Replay this good scene in your mind and before you know it he will be home.

I send you love and energy to get through these hard times. Peace and love, Kim

3. Palin is the most terrifying candidate to ever come this close to the presidency.
For all his talk of a 'higher father' & his religious conversion, Bush worships money first. The fundies are nothing but a tool for him to manipulate to get in office. Palin on the other hand, truly believes & her beliefs are frightening.

I look at how badly the McCain/Palin campaign is going & I think there is no way they can win, but I was every bit as certain that Bush wouldn't win in '04.

Sorry, I can't talk you down. Maybe someone else can.

14. Agree on Palin completely!
I agree with what you say about her 100%. I think even Bush could be "reasoned with", if by no other means, by showing what would or would not result in the most profit.

But Palin has a death wish for ALL of us by trying to create her End Times scenario. There is no way to reason with a freaky, religious idiot. They are too far gone to think in common sense terms.

4. No WAY. NONE. Seriously....
I think there were republicans still sitting on the fence about whether or not they would vote for mccrap, and I think they all just moved over to the Obama camp. I really do.

8. It feels much better to me this time. Sarah Palin feels extremely out of her depth... you can see
it in her eyes. She choked in the Couric interview, and badly. Think about that... she's much more scared than you are.

10. it's enough to make you want to pull your hair out.
But I have faith in Obama... I couldn't say that a year ago, I was, initially, pulling mostly for Edwards. But he's grown so much into his candidacy - SO much, has so completely rounded off the rough edges - that I don't worry about him at all. In fact, he made me cry yesterday when he was so calm, so completely in control, so presidential (I've been doing a lot of that lately!). Media spin... yeah, that's definitely a worry. But I think that McCain has turned off so much of the press, and that so many of them, I truly believe, genuinely LIKE Obama, that they won't go so far as they did with Gore and Kerry (even Pat Buchanan, that racist anti-Semite, I think really likes him, in spite himself and in spite of the bullshit spin he puts on things sometimes). Yes, the constant annoying "why can't Obama do this?" or "why isn't Obama further ahead?" questions drive me batshit - WHY COULDN'T McCAIN HOLD HIS LEAD? is never asked. But... that's the disadvantage we have and will always have. I'm hoping that Obama just knocks it outta the park these 3 debates, but holding status quo might be enough too. So... hang in there.

11. don't let this get to you, please. If we all keep fighting back, our guy will get elected.
What you are feeling now is PRECISELY what the Repugs want all of us to feel. Thank God that we have a candidate who has not let them get under his beautiful dark skin!!!!

16. McCain is down to a king and a pawn right now.
Obama still has virtually all of his pieces.

There's a slight chance McCain will win, but it's very very very slight. He's screwed up big time.

McCain is using the ones from Harry Potter (in other words, election fraud, other GOP dirty tricks)

17. Don't understand your P.S. I'm just as frightened to have
MCain at the helm as I am for Palin to be at the helm. In fact, I'd say it's a toss-up as to which one is worse.

20. Walk and talk, that's the answer to panic attacks. Canvassing and phone banking is so
productive and the more you do it and the less you watch TV and read stuff online, the better you'll feel. It's saved me from going nuts

21. Believe me, I know
Traumatized is just the right word for it.

It will be getting worse each day. Events look positive today but we've seen the twists and turns. You never know when the bus drives off the cliff.

I'm hoping beyond hope that on Nov. 5th we all breathe a sigh of relief at becoming a free country again. Then we see how the Republicans plot to get back in the game...
