Letterman is still pissed ...."I feel used. I feel cheap. I feel sullied."
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 08:12 AM by RedEarth
David Letterman kept up his verbal assault on John McCain, commiserating with Paris Hilton and saying he felt like an "ugly date" because the GOP presidential candidate backed out of an appearance on the "Late Show."

The late night CBS comedian was upset Wednesday when McCain canceled an appearance to deal with the economic crisis. After backing out of the Letterman show, McCain sat for an interview with Katie Couric, then didn't leave New York until Thursday, further angering Letterman.

At first, Letterman said, he felt like a "patriot" to let McCain off.

"Now I'm feeling like an ugly date," Letterman said. "I feel used. I feel cheap. I feel sullied."

4. He was absolutely relentless. As Paris Hilton told him, Revenge is Sweet.
The irony of it all of Letterman turned out to be OUR October surprise (that came a bit early!)

Any of the other late night talkies picking up on it (like Leno?) We don't typically watch, but the Letterman stuff has been magnetic!

5. Letterman is not a person you want on yoru bad side - he holds grudges forever
and this is a guy who appeals to everyday people.

6. Letterman's best revenge will be
When McCain offers to come on his show to make up for his cancellation and Dave tells him to shove it and repays his olive-branch with ramped-up "McCain is a lying-assed flake" invective all the way to November 4th.

7. Dave went after Oprah for months....
until she relented and appeared on his show...

And Oprah never really dissed him.

But by blowing off Letterman,
McCain had set himself up as the punchline until the election,
and has solidified the base of 18 to 44 year olds against McCain,
meaning any youthful republican possibilities are gone....

SAdly, after a few months of poking fun at McCain
("He's so old, he's like the guy who yells:
'Hey you kids get off my lawn..'"),
Dave reportedly felt bad: "He's a war hero," and toned
down the rhetoric.

But now, all bets are off....
