Borger, "To be fair Biden has had his share of gaffes".
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 10:02 PM by cottonseed
Gloria, these are not "gaffes" that we're seeing from Palin. This is a frightening display of a lack of intelligence. Palin is competent to be the Mayor of a town of 6000 (which she was a little over a year an a half ago), but she does NOT have the competency to run the country in the very likely scenario that McCain is unable to complete his term in office.

This is scary, and if anyone in the press gives a shit about this country, then they MUST stop searching for false equivalencies here. Palin is not intelligent. It is not a sin or elitist to admit to that. A McCain/Palin ticket is dangerous to the future of this country.

1. BINGO. In the name of fairness the media become far to forgiving...
If a Snake and a Monkey ran as the Republican Ticket the media would still treat them like they are on the same level as the Democratic ticket.

5. Biden made a big one in Ohio a couple days ago, I won't
even repeat what he said but it involved one of our biggest Union supporters. I just hope the McCain campaign doesn't pick it up and run with it.

13. That's bullshit, and I have already debunked it on this board
He did not hear what she said. He thought she was talking about the "old style" plant. It was noisy at that event, and I don't think he heard the first part of what she asked him. Not the "new" style. There are countless videos of him in support of that "issue".

People need to stop thinking everything he says is a gaffe. Sometimes there are other factors involved. just like the FDR thing. Turns out that FDR did in fact go on TV, and since Biden said it, Chris Matthews has said the same thing, and I don't see anyone calling him on his gaffe. That is a situation where the people criticizing Biden clearly don't even know history.

16. I was wondering what that was alluding too.
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 10:14 PM by cottonseed
What I think this shows, is that the McCain camp does in fact not want this election to be about "issues". I have to give his campaign credit though, they're good at getting those talking points out to our news media's blackberries though. Starts become "common wisdom" after too long...

Thanks for debunking...

Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 10:27 PM by doc03
they played the audio on the radio. You're right there was a lot of noise and it was very hard to hear what he said. From what I could make of it he said even the "new" style should be built in China and not here. Myself I am not involved in that industry and it won't affect me but to people who are it is a BIG issue with them and they can easily be scared out of voting for Obama.

on edit: Do you have any evidence to debunk it, like a link to his statement? I would like to be able to debunk it myself if someone brings the subject up.

2. exactly!
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 10:01 PM by ErinBerin84
Biden is fucking COMPETENT, which is the main difference....Biden may have said awkward or embarassing things...or seemed confused about some Obama positions (which are usually overblown...think of all of the things that McCain says that are just blown off as "straight talk"), but he has demonstrated a thorough knowledge of policy and issue. Palin is truly frightening! It really doesn't sound like English is even her first language! I was thinking that the camp was just setting low expectations for the debate, but I'm really beginning to think that even they know that they're screwed.

Or to 'run' to catch up. His choir director told him to 'stand straight' before performances and his drama coach told him to stand on his mark.

Not trying to be 'Debi Downer' but when we treat people who don't ambulate the same way we do as equals - then we are treating them as equals.

8. Who would even TRY to compare the two?
Biden KNOWS what the hell he's talking about and the majority of Americans are ready to have him serve as their VP.

Palin? Thinks Putin is going to rear his head and come into our airspace through Alaska!! :wow:

So no, she's not even competent to be Mayor of a town of 6000.

14. Yea... I'm still scratching my head as to what she is competent to run.
It's scary, it really is. She rode in on that Alaskan governorship on a wing and a prayer. The Peter Principle probably last applied while she was in the PTA!

17. true...she snuck it in in the end
and she did say (when Begala and Rollins were saying that the campaign should have briefed Palin with 150 possible questions that an anchor could ask her) that maybe the campaign DID brief her with all of those questions, and she still failed (well, she didn't say FAILED, but it was the consensus among the panel).

after the clip played, the look on his face was priceless! their analysis was pretty good, I thought. they all agreed that with this latest stunt, McChicken was avoiding having to face all of the negative stories about Palin.

What she did, even if it was one small remark is still incorrect, and it drives me nuts having to listen too it.

24. One correction, she was not capable of running a
town of 6000, she had to hire someone to do it for her. What she is capable of is using her money, her religious connections, her political connections, and her fake country charm (her looks) to weasle her way into places of power that she is incapable of handling on her own.

I forgot about the city manager too... :)

By the way, I've never heard of too many small town mayors with a Washington lobbyist bringing in money. I always wondered who was involved with her campaign all those years...
