5. As of now, yes Obama is going ahead with the debate
and he should. Harry Reid suggested that both of them stay out of Washington until the vote is up. Reid doesn't want negotiations politicized any more than they are by the Bush Admin already.

have a debate since one of them will be in charge in about 40 days.

He's just worried about partisan 'politics' getting in the way.
