7. I thought they were pretty clever. (did I miss your sarcasm?)
Give Zulchzulu a break. I assume he's not a professional humorist, and these made me laugh.

2. Because he knows Obama will kick his ass.
There aren't any issues where McCain is better than Obama. He doesn't have a prayer in the debates.

That's why the McCain campaign has done their damndest to avoid the media and the issues.

They're hemorrhaging in the polls.

This debate will be the final nail in the coffin.

We're witnessing McCain lose the election. Right this instant.

6. Other: McCain knows that at some point, he'll blow his stack.
He knows it's "Game Over". McCancelled's campaign will be at room temperature and on its way to the morgue when the debate is over.

Lindsey Graham is covering for McCancelled on CNN. Thinks suspending the campaigns is a good idea.

13. These are the people who asked us to vote for their agenda, back in Reagan's day.
They lost.

Now they have to do end-runs in order to win, find and frame situations where only they are the "solution", to "prove" their fitness. They cannot win in a direct, honest competition.

So, watch for them to pull dirty tricks galore.

People who cannot "show up" as valid without playing dirty tricks behind the scenes are summarily disqualified.

15. His handlers have realized that McSame's debate preparations have not
been going well, and they are doing this as a last-ditch effort to salvage what's left of his campaign.

As Obama said, the only thing that's really changed over the past several days has been the polls. All of a sudden now the old coot decides he needs to cast his first vote since April?
