Kneecapping The Next Administration

That's all this fake bailout is about.

Don’t you find it interesting that Paulson asks for this huge government bail out as Bush’s term winds down? We all know Paulson and Bernanke just didn’t stumble onto this problem. If Congress was informed of this months ago, the fat cats wouldn’t have it so easy and there could have been enough time for a real debate to take place. Now, the sky is failing and you better sign off or we’re all doomed. We heard it during the run up to the Iraq war too.

Typical sleazy Republican crap.

A Real Answer Needed»

Ambinder says:

So where did the $700 billion number come from?

Sec. Paulson told congress yesterday that the plan was to spend roughly 50 billion a month,

Sen. Schumer asked: why not $150 billion then, and let the next administration do a re-evaluation in January? No real answer.

That’s not good enough. And I would go further — give him less than that and say that he can revisit the issue with the President-Elect and the lame duck congress after the election. There’s a strong case for taking immediate action to forestall an immediate problem, but there’s no need for congress to authorize now things that won’t happen until March or February. The answer to the Schumer/Ambinder question seems to me to be, basically, that Paulson wants to tie the next administration’s hands. But that’s silly. After the election the country will have new, non-discredited leadership and that new team should play a key role in shaping the response.

2. Thank Goddess someone is paying attention!
They all knew what was coming down the pike... every last smarmy one of them! "Give me all your money and you can't ask any questions about what I'm going to do with it."

3. exactly
you hit the nail on the head. This also is bush's last act to enrich his crooked buddies.

They don't want the incoming president to have anything to work with, they want to totally
wreck the economy.

9. Precisely. They are train-wrecking the government...
See Also: where the Secretary of the Defense said yesterday that there would be NO troops available for Afghanistan until late in 2009, as units were needed in Iraq. Tightening down, filing the bolt heads off, looting, and preparing an Army unit to be on DOMESTIC alert for civil unrest by this October. They WILL NOT GIVE UP their ideological fight until the day they leave office -- whenever that is.

10. Not impeaching those mo-fos is a godawful precedent.
I doubt we'll know the full scope of their gutting of government until their hands are pried off the steering wheel.
