A lot of people who don't follow politics like polar bears and wolves. Sarah Palin likes them if they're turned into a rug!

Especially with young conscientious voters.

5. Weird. I just wrote something earlier tonight about that issue
catching my daughter's attention. She is finally getting interested in this race and plans to tell all her friends at school about it tomorrow. They are only in the seventh grade, but they might go home and ask their parents about it. Which just might cause the parents to check into it for themselves.

would even consider voting for a ticket with the barracuda on it.

This is a brutal, barbaric practice. Send this video to anyone thinking of voting for Palin...and see if they can
stomach it.

20. I tried very hard to watch that video and just burst out crying only
minutes into it. I still haven't seen it all and probably won't. I did send to everyone with a warning that it was very graphic and they may not want to watch it, but I told them to send it on to everyone they know. This one video should turn a whole lot of animal lovers against this incredibly callous woman. I hate her.

I posted a thread about it here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7134749

I do think this is a great angle because SO many people love animals, regardless of political leanings.

Obama and Biden want to help working Americans and protect the environment!

McCain and Palin want to kill cuddly wolves and polar bears.

Do you want cuddly-animal-killers in the White House?

I'm backscatter712, and I approved this message.

29. Great idea.
Why does the World Wildlife Federation and other send out pictures of cute, cuddly mammals in their mailings, instead of pictures of endangered snakes, insects and other invertebrates? Because people have a deep emotional connection to mammals, even predatory mammals. There are far more endangered animals that aren't photogenic or friendly, but people don't connect with them. A WWF mailing showing endangered caddisflies or mussels isn't going to do as well, fundraising-wise, as one showing a cuddly bear or wolf. The polar bear exhibit tends to be quite popular at our local zoo. However dangerous they are in the wild, those white bears seem cute and cuddly when you see them playing with their blocks of ice and diving for frozen fish treats. The same is true for the wolf exhibit-- many of us see them as a truly magnificent creature, while knowing full well their role in the wild. They're like gorgeous, feral huskies, or everything our dogs once were.

I think your idea is awesome, and not at all silly. Palin's attitude toward polar bears and wolves is an encapsulation of her overall attitude, and one that will resonate emotionally with the general public.

31. Defenders of Wildlife
is one of the top rated animal protection organizations in the world. They are airing these ads in Ohio and have gotten a great response from viewers. They are asking for donations to saturate the airwaves in Florida now. I sent them a donation and I know that they will use it wisely. The Sierra Club is also hot on the bandwagon of protection of polar bears. Just got some literature from them yesterday. Please send what you can to these groups. Even a small amount is appreciated. Please help those beautiful animals that need us now more than ever.:applause:

It would only be silly to the soulless greed mongers that fight for such things. Most people probably aren't in that part of the contrast and wouldn't want to be, including hunters and outdoors people.

34. My brother's a hardcore Repug
But no one loves animals more. We can't discuss politics because he gets all his talking points from Rush and actually becomes dangerously enraged if challenged, but I guarantee an ad like this, run on network TV repeatedly, during evening news and programming, would not only swing him, but many others who aren't on-line regularly and aren't aware of this issue.

A stark, chilling visual can do more good (or harm) than a million words.
