The most surreal presidential race ever has circled back around to jump the shark AGAIN.
We are in the midst of an immense crisis.
Both candidates are sitting Senators. One or the other is certain to be president in a few months.
Nobody is particularly interested in their input or leadership. There's no notable pressure for either man to rush back to Washington. They continue going around to county fairs saying pretty much the same stuff they always say, and taking time out to prepare for a debate on foreign policy... the one topic nobody is on fire about.
It's just kind of weird. It's like the presidential race is a thing with its own internal logic, disconnected from the real world.
The only thing that makes it seem normal is that nobody is interested in the sitting president's input either.
