Blatant stupidity regarding Sarah Palin
From the Times of London:

"A paper mill near Green Bay is about to close with the loss of 600 jobs. A General Motors car plant in Wisconsin laid off 1,000 workers this year.

“I’m very worried about the economy,” said Maria Blahnik, a retired nurse. “I’ve got four sons and I told them we’re going to have to tighten our belts. Our kids don’t know how to. They’ve never been through tough times.” But she was cheered by the selection of Palin and had no doubt she was up to the job.

“I love Sarah. She’s already proved that she can do it all. I love it that she is a hockey mom. My husband and his friends have put a picture of her in their hunting cabin. They’ve normally got pin-ups of girls with big boobs there and instead they’ve got Sarah. Isn’t that fun?” "

6. Not to Single out Green Bay...
but I grew up there. There's a reason that state newspapers have published several ongoing features over the years regarding a phenomenon known as "Northeast Wisconsin Brain Drain." I don't remember the statistics, but it was pretty staggering how many people who grew up there and went to college/grad school never came back - myself included. Green Bay is a mill town, a football town, a town with very good people in general, but not exactly one that's in touch with every modern reality. I know that's a generalization, but given the 20 years I spent there and the 100+ in which my family has a history there I think gives me some credibility in this regard. I knew they'd fall for Palin, and I knew they'd be leery of Obama - he's not only black, but he's from Chicago, which is the city that symbolizes the reality that many there don't want to deal with. It's always been red in that area, but given the much larger populations in Milwaukee and Madison, GB is usually overlooked as WI has generally gone blue.

7. Why don't they challenge these people? How has she proven, what she can do?
