Another Girly-Man LIE from Ahnuld...
Jeeze Louise, first it turned out the Humphrey/Nixon debates that convinced him to turn Republican NEVER HAPPENED, and now this....

"When I was a boy, the Soviets occupied part of Austria. I saw their tanks in the streets. I saw communism with my own eyes....
It seems to me that the point of this is to try and make a person who doesn't know Austrian history believe that Arnold grew up on the eastern side of the Iron Curtain. First came the Soviet occupation, then, after their departure, they left behind the dread socialism. His family "and so many others lived in fear of the Soviet boot." But this is the story of a young Czech (or Polish or Hungarian) bodybuilder, it's not what actually happened in Austria. Rather, the Soviets occupied part of the country (and the Americans occupied the rest). Then everybody's troops came home and Austria became a democracy, whose democratically elected governments constructed a mixed economy, much like the democratically elected governments in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the rest of western Europe. As elsewhere in Europe, the Austrian welfare state was more generous than the American one, but as an politico-economic type the two models were very similar -- a liberal democratic government, an economy organized along market principles but constrained by regulation in which government programs were financed through taxation."

Guess steroid abuse plays havoc with the memory....

1. Also interesting that Arnold deserted his military position in Austria
but is held out as a hero...how come the press never talks about that?

2. Do we call our troops in Iraq "Capitalists"?
Those troops occupying Austria were "Russians", not "Communists". Hitler came from Austria. He started WW11. After twenty million dead it is a wonder to me the Russians left anyone in Austria alive!

7. Ah...
Last night he repeated a lie he's said many times, intimating that the reason he became a Republican was because Humphrey sounded too much like the socialists in Austria whereas Nixon sounded like freedom, or some such rubbish.

Leaving aside the wonderful stink bomb of a televised public tribute to the Watergate Weasel, the plain fact is that Nixon ducked all the debates in 1968 and that his main plank was his "secret plan" to end the Viet Nam war, not freedom or anything like it.

And of course the "secret plan" turned out to be "escalate the war for four years, fuck with the 1972 elections, flee office one step ahead of jail and leave Gerald Ford holding the bag when it falls apart."

11. Um...he's told the story before "with debate"
"I remember watching the Nixon-Humphrey presidential race on TV. A friend of mine who spoke German and English translated for me. I heard Humphrey saying things that sounded like socialism, which I had just left.
But then I heard Nixon speak. Then I heard Nixon speak. He was talking about free enterprise, getting the government off your back, lowering the taxes and strengthening the military."

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/9/1/125455/5661

He's sure trying to make ti sound like a debate, isn't he?

"Even before he could speak English fluently, Schwarzenegger realized he was a Republican. As a friend translated the 1968 presidential debates, he found he admired Republican Richard Nixon's free-market approaches and rejected Democrat Hubert Humphrey as too much like the Austrian socialists he had left behind."

http://www.sacbee.com/content/politics/recall/story/7457298p-8400137c.html

"My first exposure to American politics was the presidential campaign of 1968. I'd just arrived here. I was 21 years old. I knew very little English - so a friend had to translate what Nixon and Humphrey were saying.
But this much I learned:
Humphrey talked about protectionism, more government planning, and a lot of liberal solutions. It sounded like the socialism in Austria.
The Republican - Nixon - talked about less government, lower taxes, the free market, international trade, and a stronger military.
After the translator finished, I realized: Yes! I’m a Republican! "

that didn't actually happen. Who would a thunk it? Now will we be treated to a media nit picking of the speech the way they did to Al Gore? (I know, when it gets real cold where Tom DeLay is going.)

12. Speaking of "Girly-Man"...
Plastic Arnold
We ask six cosmetic surgeons: What has Gov.-elect Schwarzenegger had done to his face?

Snip:
The results are shocking. Four of the six surgeons believe Schwarzenegger is untouched by a scalpel. Only two think he's had his face worked over.

But Dr. Daniel Yamini, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, says it's good genioplasty, not good genes, that is responsible for Schwarzenegger's age-defying look. "He's probably had something done to reduce the prominence of his chin. It's a genioplasty. They can actually reduce the bone by cutting it or sanding it," he says.

He speculates Schwarzenegger has had a full facelift, as well as an upper and lower "blepharoplasty" (or eyelift) and a "canthoplasty"—a surgery to the corner of the eyelid. He rates Arnold's unknown (or possibly nonexistent) surgeon very high because the doctor avoided the dreaded girly eye syndrome. "It's hard to maintain masculinity," he says of eye surgery on men. Often, he says, the canthoplasty will feminize the eye by moving the corner too high. (Does this explain why Burt Reynolds looks like Lucy Liu's father?)

13. And SchwanzeWagger was an illegal alien to boot
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 04:37 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
In all of his bluster about how great it is to come to the United States as a noble immigrant seeking a better life he failed to mention that he would have been deported by the virulently anti-immigrant elements in the Republican Party if it had been known that his own terms of stay in the U.S. were illegal. SchwanzeWagger came to the U.S. on a B-1 visa, which is intended for business visitors. It is strictly forbidden for any B-1 visa holder to derive any salary or other remuneration while in the U.S. from a U.S. employer. Nonetheless, Joe Weider paid SchwanzeWagger a salary, gave him an apartment, and use of a car as compensation for his training services in Weider's gym. This violated the terms of Arnold's B-1 visa, which immediately invalidated the visa and made his further presence in the U.S. at that point akin a visa overstay. In other words, any further stay in the U.S. from the first moment he derived compensation was on an invalidated visa and illegal. It made him subject to deportation if the U.S. immigration authorities had discovered it.
