think of the election as a......bakery
and the voting booth as the counter
when they call your number and you go to the counter
you tell them what you want
if they dont have that you can pick something else
something similar and nearly as satisfying

so you want cupcakes
cupcakes are good
they are cake....but just a smidge of cake!
today they have lemon cupcakes and buttercream cupcakes

now there may be yellow cake or white cake or even chocolate cake under the frosting
but a lot of people wont ask "what kind of cake is it?"
they will decide by the frosting they like
short term thinkers!

frosting is sugar and lard (qc? are you reading this?i got lard into it just for you buddy!)
with a little extract for flavor
its spread thinly over the top of the cupcake
it doesnt change the cake inside it
and the importance of it is quite frankly secondary to the cake itself
the cake is the substance

so when you get to the counter ask
"what kind of cake is under that veneer of larded sugar?"
worry about the cake and remember the frosting is not the cake
