New PPP NC Poll: Obama 46%, McCain 46%, Barr 5%
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 08:24 PM by writes3000
Ecomony concerns seem to be driving up these numbers. Also, note, this poll is of "likely voters". Usually that means they've knocked out voters who haven't voted in previous elections....

"PPP surveyed 1,060 likely voters from September 17th to 19th. The survey’s margin of
error is +/-3.0%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed and weighting, may
introduce additional error that is more difficult to quantify."

And more GREAT news...

"In the state’s Senate race, Kay Hagan is out to her biggest lead yet. She now leads 46-41
over Elizabeth Dole. The economy is driving her success as well. She has a 57-30
among voters who state it as their top concern."

Yippee!

6. You remember how off the NC polls were for the primary? Who benefitted?
I think there's gonna be a similar surge this time.

21. maybe this has something to do with it
Republican U.S. presidential candidate John McCain accused North Carolina's Republican Party of being "out of touch with reality"
http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idUSN2535509420080425
The republicans I know don't like McCain all that much. They may not be ready to vote for Obama, but they don't look forward to voting for McCain

11. It's even better than it looks
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 08:47 PM by abburdlen
the internals in this survey have African Americans at 21%
In 2004 the actual turn out was 26%
Go ahead and bump NC back into the toss up column, soon to be leans blue!!!!

(btw there was an earlier thread here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7132292&mesg_id=7132292)

14. He lost by...
Bush: 56.02%
Kerry: 43.58%

A total of 12.44% points. And this was with North Carolina Sen. John Edwards on the ticket.

15. 56.02% Bush, 43.58% Kerry/Edwards, 0.34% Libertarian
That means an Obama victory would require a 13% swing (assuming the computerized voting machines aren't rigged).

Barr may take 1% -no way he takes anywhere close to how he seems to be polling. People often say things about 3rd party candidates in polls when they're not enthused about either major candidate, but when it comes down to it, they rarely vote that way.

17. Bush 56/Kerry 43
And Kerry only got 85% of the African American vote.

Other interesting tidbit reading through the exit polling of 2004 here in NC, Bush got 43% of the under 30 crowd.
Doubt that the GOP will fair that well this time around.

She had to go back into town about an hour later and when she drove through the intersection it was gone.

25. Can't wait to see Obama in Charlotte tomorrow!
Good night I'm tired from canvassing today in Gaston county today. It was very fulfilling. I'll be doing it again next Saturday, and as much as I can until the election. I really think we can win this! McSame better worry.
