Florida's "No Match" Law: Not Really a Problem-ish
There has been much concern about the "No Match" law that is on the books in Florida. Well, here's what the law says: The law invalidates voter registration in the state’s automated database if a person’s driver license number, or the last four digits of the voter’s Social Security number, do not match numbers in other databases.

In other words, when a person registers to vote, he/she has to either write his/her driver's license number or the last four(4) digits of the SS#. When the registration form is processed, if the # given does not match the number in the database, then that person is not eligible to vote.

Typically, a law like this could pose a problem to many voters, but even the voters without a FL driver's license may still vote if they can remember the last four of their SS#. Even students who live here and who don't have a FL driver's license may register by simply including the last four digits of the SS# on the voters registration form. A person's address only comes in to play when it comes to mailing the voter's registration card. Even WITHOUT a voter's registration card, though, one can still vote in FL. He/She simply gives his/her name to the pollster. If the voter's in the system as "registered," then the card is not even needed.

Also, and this is to put the fears to rest: THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN WILL HAVE LAWYERS @ ALMOST EVERY POLL/PRECINCT IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA. WE KNOW OUR REPUTATION FOR VOTING DOWN HERE, AND ANY IMPROPRIETY IS GOING TO BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY TO THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS.

2. When I lived in florida (20ish years) you register to vote when you get your drivers license.
They are part of the same process, so they would have the DL number there. I assume you can register to vote without going through the DMV, but I never did it that way.
