When millions will be paying attention for the first time, or that the campaign has decided it's not going to be a net plus for them to bring it up at all? I've heard a few Dems mention it, but no one who's an actual spokesperson or surrogate for the campaign.

1. Obama won't bring it up. Maybe the moderator will.

But Obama will steer clear of long buried landmines, even if they relate to crimes, bad judgment, etc.

He wants to focus on the future, not the past.

they were flat out baiting comments, which means he wants it out of the way, which means hes ready to spin it.

But Obama is holding it back, for the most impact and that definitely the debates.

4. I don't think Dems want to exploit Keating 5

McCain was the lone republican and received the least amounnt of punishment of the five. Republicans could easily turn around Keating 5 and use it against us citing the 4 democrats who received more punishment.

4/5 Keating 5 were Democrats. Obama is a Democrat - they would do guilt by association. Democrats caused Keating scandal and the democrats received the harshest punishment (even if McCain was technically more involved).

YOu have to knock off about 50 IQ points to figure out what these people are capable of doing. Republicans are just slobbering at the thought that we'll bring out Keating 5 so they can really spin this one in a frenzy!

5. Obama has alluded to it.... trying to get the first mention to come from the Media....

It has more value then.


If Obama brings it up, it just looks like another "partisan attack" and the McCain campaign will portray it that way. Then it loses its impact.


If a debate moderator... or a prominent media person.... brings it up, it's effectiveness is at least quadrupled. Because the LIVs will give it more credibility.

I was trying to read up on the Keating 5 last night and every thing I was reading kept saying McC was "partially exonerated" or had the least to do with it...everything was spun in his favor. Are the RNC going back and cleaning up history?

9. I've been wondering why...

I've been wondering why that particular story hasn't gotten any play-- especially in the past week as the government's been bailing out financial institutions in essentially the same way the government bailed out the S&L's after that scandal hit.

It seems to me that the bail-outs this week were the perfect opportunity for Sen. Obama, his supporters and his proxies to begin alluding to McCain's involvement in the Keating Five.
