DU's....Please help me respond to this....

For months I have been receiving the misinformed and misleading emails about Barack Obama…everything from religion, to not having his hand on his heart for the Pledge, to removing the flag from his jet, on and on. Ever since the first one I received, I would reply all with

“This election is so very important for our country that we need to EDUCATE ourselves on information that we pass on…so we are not falling prey to participating in ignorant scare tactics with false information.”

And based on the email, I would find a website to disprove it and pass that along.

Not ONCE did I ever receive a reply from ANYONE…until today. This is what I just read from someone that I don’t know but was on the list of the initial email I received….

“I agree "This election is so important that we need to EDUCATE ourselves and not pass on scare tactics..." Also, I agree that Obama is NOT the Anti Christ.

However, he is not ready to lead my USA. He has done "NOTHING" to deserve the Democratic nomination, or serve as the President of the USA.”

I started to reply when I re-read the second paragraph…he is not ready to lead MY USA? I’m just astonished at the sheer arrogance and conceit…HIS USA? Isn’t it OUR USA?

13. Maybe the wording was just for emphasis
I can imagine saying it that way so as to distinguish my views from yours. Not defending his meaning, just suggesting the "my USA" may not really be arrogance. When we write quickly and with passion we often use words that could be inflammatory or arrogant or rude or... to others.

3. Snopes is great...
And what I have done is just printed the pages off, and have given them to confused low information voters. They seem to do a lot better with hard copy.

Respond in exactly the same way you would if you were strolling down the sidewalk of life, and noted a steaming pile of dog feces in front of you. Step around it, and be careful not to get any on your shoes.

5. Tell your correspondent that it's unpatriotic to think of the country as HIS country.
It's everyone's country. If he's thinking about voting for McCain, he must know that the Republican slogan this year is "country first."

... and that's listed as "UNDETERMINED" instead of "false"...

Um... WTF?

"Joe Biden is planning to step down from the vice-presidential slot of the Democratic ticket in favor of Hillary Clinton."

Yellow bullet, meaning "undetermined." The snopes page cites an email saying Biden will step down for health reasons after the VP debate.

Now, Snopes' explanation for the "undetermined" rating -- that this is "internet chatter at this point" and "it's hard to prove a negative" make sense. But just reading that sentence, and having it listed as "undetermined," is unsettling when we're trying to squelch all the BS rumors about Obama-Biden.

Since when is high intelligence and excellent education...nothing? What parent doesn't encourage their child from doing good in school, slap a bumpersticker on their car when they make the honor roll, hope they get in a good college? Why do they think it's so important for their children to be smart and get a good education, but don't think it's necessary with the POTUS????

Being president is the most important job in the world and whoever wins will have a lot to learn. A highly intelligent person absorbs information and knowledge quickly, understands complicated situations.

Obama: Columbia University (ranks #8), Graduated from Harvard (ranks #1) magna cum laude. Taught constitutional law for 12 years at University of Chicago.

Biden: Universities in Deleware and Syracuse, law degree, received juris doctor.

McCain: USNA graduated at the BOTTOM 1% of his class. Of 899 students, he was 894.

Palin: Changed colleges (two were community colleges) five times to receive a degree in journalism from University of Idaho, a tier three college. (rankings 1 thru 125 is tier one)

Michelle Obama: Princeton (rants #2) and Harvard.

Todd Palin: Didn't go to college.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

This document says that the USA is not a my Whatever; it's not an internet webpage. It IS a living breathing being called "Us". The Preamble does not include any exceptions, therefore: If ALL of us are not "We the People of the United States...", then there is no "We the People" and nothing that we can call "the United States".

In other words, If it is not possible for ALL Americans to claim identity with the USA, then it is NOT rationally possible for any one person to claim identity with the USA, because the Preamble to our Constitution makes no distinction for any one person, nor any type(s) of person.

The writer should be informed that s/he is not a REAL American. The writer USES this country to suit EXCLUSIVE self-centered values. Someone needs to ask the writer about other people who do not fit her definition of "my". Are they to just simply disappear somehow? Shall we put them in concentration camps, so the USA can be everything s/he thinks it should be? Or should we just simply kill them for their own good?

Someone needs to ask the writer how it is possible for him/her to expect his/her Justice, Tranquility, defense, Welfare, and Liberty to be respected if s/he does not grant that same expectation to ALL other Americans.

my USA simply does not work, the claim is non-functional on the basis of exclusion,

because exclusion inevitably necessitates

those very things that violate everyone's Justice, Tranquility, defense, Welfare, and Liberty. Ask her what she thinks the Civil War was about.

...I'd still take someone who's done nothing over another goddamned Republican.

"Experience" in today's Congress is a distinct liability, as far as I'm concerned. We're lucky to have Sen. Obama running now, before his nigh-inevitable corruption by the system.

I can't take issue, though, with your new friend's use of the term "my USA." Yes, it's ours, but the responsibility for his vote is his alone. Since he has alleged a willingness to be educated, though, you can show him what Obama has accomplished.

32. Good question. Conventionally, quotation marks like these mean some type of special usage, in other
words: the word means something other than what it usually means, in this case "NOTHING", meaning something other than what it normally means would mean SOMETHING. The writer is devious, ignorant, or :crazy:
