Let me tell you about my friend Corva

Corva has been a HUGE Obama supporter for several years now. She joined the campaign early and has phone banked, worked in the office, canvassed, held a house party, and many other things.

A few weeks ago Corva decided to start buying Obama signs and handing them out at a busy intersection during rush hour. Then she decided she should register voters too. She found an intersection with a large parking lot nearby so people can pull in out of the traffic and register to vote. So Corva has been going to this intersection for a couple weeks now and is planning on being there at least once a week until the election, registering voters and giving away signs.

Today I went by to help her. When I pulled in, two ladies I didn't know were standing there with her.



They had seen the sign, pulled in to register and decided to stay and help hand out signs.



We gave away 20 signs in less than an hour. And almost everyone who drove by honked and waved. A lot of them yelled out "YES WE CAN!"

This is how elections are won ladies and gentlemen. So please borrow Corva's idea and get out into the streets and hand out some signs while you register some voters. You might make some new friends too!

If you have a bumber sticker or magnet sitting on your desk, it's time to put it on your car. If you have a sign, it's time to put it up, or go get one. If you have Obama-wear, time to start wearing it. I really think the visibility works!! People notice if there is a massive show of support for a candidate. Time for us to show our strength!!

I assume these are official registration forms. Does each person fill out a separate form? Can anyone pick up multiple forms from their local election office? thanks. Sorry if these are dumb questions...

53. Call your local Democratic office first, some states have forms for mailing in, and different

forms for the parties to get filled out and turn in by hand. It's most helpful if you get the ones from the Democratic Party, get as many filled as you can and then take them back to the dem office. If you don't have a dem party organized in your county, then yes, head on over to your county Board of Elections (BoE) and ask them for the correct forms. You'll be surprised at how many people want to register to vote or change their old addresses to new but just don't have the time to find their way to the BoE. If you do this, you'll be helping out so many!!

By the way, there's no such thing as dumb questions, just generous and lovely people ready to learn something new to help out their country!

I have a story, too.

I opened up my university web mail to find out one of our librarians had sent out complete information on how to register to vote to all the professors. She also has registrations in the library and they don't even require a stamp!

I have five classes, average around 22 students per class. Almost all are very young, so the chances of them not being registered are pretty good.

I intend to get every one of them to register and at some point in the class, they'll have to examine the platform of each candidate and write a one-page essay on who they think will represent their best interest. Totally anonymous, of course, but they will get a credit for just turning in a paper.

we have 6 to 8 people a day come in to register and dozens who want signs and bumper stickers. We have been out for awhile and are supposed to get more Monday. The list of people who want them are so long that we'll probably be out in a week and our entire town has about 8,000 people
