Obama-Biden didn’t do anything especially noteworthy today, but then they really didn’t have to. The day started off with a Quinnipiac poll giving Obama-Biden a 4-point lead, following yesterday’s New York Times poll that placed their ticket five points up. The Democratic candidates returned fire on every McCain attack, even mocking the Republican nominee’s headline-grabbing declaration that he’d fire Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Chris Cox.

McCain and Palin seemed a little more confident and a little more engaged than they have so far this week, and their campaign – which accused Obama of politicizing the Wall Street crisis – seems to be spoiling for a new round of fighting. But they haven’t changed the game just yet.
