Like: 'redounded' and 'specious'

in response to a *reporter's question and out came that spontaneous word.

*planted

4. Here's the whole quote - also, other non-answers at the link:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/palin-takes-que.html

But when asked how she would help keep any new domestic oil produced in the United States, Palin gave a less-than-well-articulated non-answer.

"Oil and coal? Of course, it's a fungible commodity and they don't flag, you know, the molecules, where it's going and where it's not. But in the sense of the Congress today, they know that there are very, very hungry domestic markets that need that oil first," Palin said. "So, I believe that what Congress is going to do, also, is not to allow the export bans to such a degree that it's Americans that get stuck to holding the bag without the energy source that is produced here, pumped here. It's got to flow into our domestic markets first."

13. LOL, are they throwing the SAT words in there to try to make her seem articulate?
It's just the reverse effect because she obviously doesn't know what she means and it shows in how she speaks!

When Obama uses big words, it's pretty obvious he knows what they mean because he further explains his positions instead of just throwing out as many fancy labels as possible without explaining why they're being thrown out there. Seriously, I think of Obama as a mix of FDR and JFK-- he's good with the JFK-like oratory but he's also good at the FDR-esque explaining.

...it's right up there with "Who's on First", only not as comprehensible. Not as funny, either -- at least with Who's on First, we knew they were pulling our legs. This dim bulb is serious...

33. LOL! The first two sentences, I get! It's the rest of the answer that's empty.
She's right that oil is a fungible commodity. But how is she going to get that oil to "flow into our domestic markets first"? That's what the questioner asked, and she totally doubletalked her way around it. Ugh.

RUMSFELD: Oh, come on. People are fungible. You can have them here or there. The fact of the matter is we've made a judgment, and we've announced the judgment.

22. A good is fungible
if it can be commingled without prejudice.

Does that help? :-)

I take my wheat down the the grain elevator and put in x units, you put in x units right after me. I come back and ask for 'my' wheat. I get x units and I don't care if it's the same wheat as long as I get x units. We mixed our wheat together and neither of us care (commingleable) and we're happy substituting your unit of wheat for mine (fungible).

I use my dictionary a lot. I once looked up the word "sophistry", and it has helped me understand much about how Republican pundits do their jobs.

Peace and steady on.

27. The Price Of Oil Is Fungible
The oil we produce in the United States is sold on the world market and the price is determined by that market...Of course, markets can be imperfect but that's another conversation...

What it really means is we can't buy Texan oil or Alaskan oil at less than the price set by the world market...
