Shocker: Palin Cancels Big California Swing (Including Fundraisers)
Palin Cancels two days of CA rally, fundraisers

Shocker: Palin Cancels Big California Swing

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who was to star at two major California fundraisers and an Orange County rally for 15,000 next week, has canceled her two-day swing through the Golden State, campaign sources said.

The change is a shocker, because Palin's presence had electrified the GOP base in California. Party insiders were distributing 15,000 tickets to her Sept. 26 rally in Orange County -- and fundraisers reported an almost instantaneous sell-out of her two $1,000-a-head Sept. 25 fundraising events in Orange County and Santa Clara.

If something is up she'll be removed from the ticket but it will be billed as her choice, for "family reasons" and it will fucking set women's rights back 50 years because it will give the appearance that a woman can't handle the stress of politics. Yet another reason to hate her.

40. Why would you immediately jump to that conclusion,
especially when the whole world knows McCain didn't vet her properly? Why the whole "appearance that women can't handle the stress" crap?

MY immediate conclusion, if that were to happen, would be that the public's vetting process uncovered so many negatives about Sarah Palin, that, were she to continue, she would bring the whole ticket down.

I hope this means the campaign is in damage control mode for some reason or other.

Even if CA is a lost cause for the Repubs, FL is definitely a battleground and Gregoire is in a tough fight against Rossi up here for the Governorship.

Why are they cutting back on their 'rock star's tours?

...and her polls will continue to slide.

Then again, if Romney was in the race, at least some dignity would be
restored to our political process and to the two highest offices in
this nation.

She is just a complete joke--when it comes to being the VP or the President.

I wouldn't have a problem with her being Energy Secretary--as far as her qualifications
go. However, for the love of Pete--to parade this person around as a potential
leader of the free world--is pretty much a punchline at this point.

I do not like Romney's politics, and I think he would make a victory for us
a bit more challenging--but Palin denigrates this entire process and the Office.
of the VP and the Presidency.

Listen to the absurd chatter about the debates, "Ohhhh, that Joe Biden! Joe ya'd better be nice to
Sarah Palin! Ya better not try to show her up with yer knowledge or yer facts or yer experience. Ya
don't want to look like a bully do ya, Joe?" For the love of Pete, our vice presidential
candidate, is supposed to dumb it down and walk on eggshells, because the Republican
running mate knows nothing and Joe's knowledge might make people feel sorry for her?

Great googly moogly!

Seriously...enough. Our country looks like the 'keystone cops' of politics, as
things stand.

Christopher Cox has a lot of support in Orange County, and McCain's decision to blame Chris Cox probably upsets some of the Orange County GOP. The McCain campaign needs to wait until after the fundraiser before they throw the local hero under the bus.

54. Yes, and more importantly...
...This is some serious cash for the Republican party, cash that they need.

These were high-dollar fund-raising events, not as much rah-rah rallies.

Why cancel? They still need the cash?

I'm telling ya...she'll quit, sooner rather than later.

It will be a big to-do. She'll cite the hacked emails as 'the last straw'--and she'll
claim it's about her family. McCain needs a vetted expert on the economy who isn't
embroiled in an ethics investigation and other scandals.

Romney is just standing there, waiting for the call--and McCain will make Palin part
of his cabinet.

24. they may not have a choice.
There may be things in Alaska that we are not aware of or are unsure of. People that were afraid to talk before are getting braver about it now. There may be problems that even they can't cover up and now would be the time for her to decide her family problems call for her to return home. ;)

I really doubt this stuff. Just throwing it out. They probably have something they need to work on for her. Unless cain is going to make her disappear for making it the pain and cain presidency.

39. I'm telling ya...
I suspect that the hacked email was a manufactured story--that was crafted to give Palin an out.

The Republicans see the polls. Palin is tanking. She's embroiled in scandals.

The hot issue is the economy and she does NOT help with that. She hurts McCain.

McCain picked Palin, because he needed a shiny object. He doesn't need shiny any more. He
needs an economics expert.

Enter stage left--Mitt Romney.

She'll quit because of the pressure and because of her family. McCain will openly make her
his Sec of Energy.

McCain keeps his base, and he gains new excitement, enthusiasm and a new veep who isn't a wacky freak.

at this point in the meltdown. It wouldn't have been so, before black September hit. So, let's hope it's because McCain needs her by his side (for whatever reason). Palin as VP is the beatable ticket that gets us the win.

49. That's why I think she's done...
The game has changed so much in the past few weeks.

Palin offers nothing, as far as knowledge on economic issues. That's probably her weakest
suit, even behind national security knowledge--and that's frightening.

Plus, her negatives are so high. That ethics investigation will continue to haunt her. It's
not going away.

I've seen Romney doing media circuit. He does have cred on the economy--even if his politics
and stances are contemptible.

42. Palin will NOT speak at NY rally concerning Iran!
J.Street started a petition drive to NOT have her speak at the rally
in N.Y.concerning Iran.

http://www.jstreet.org/campaigns/stop-sarah-palin-non-partisan-iran-rally

I signed it, and Yahoo! It worked!

Here's a copy of the e-mail I received today!
---------------------------------------
Dear Kajsa,

Congratulations! Your voice was heard.

I just received word that the Iran Unity Rally organizers have asked Sarah Palin not to speak on Monday.

This is the right decision. A unity rally to express communal solidarity is no place for partisan politics. And to give such prominence to Sarah Palin alone would have spoken neither to, nor for, the American Jewish community.

This is a victory not just for you and for the 20,188 others who signed J Street's petition. It's a victory for the broader community. And we're pleased the rally's organizers came to their senses so quickly.

Victories like these don't come easily - or often. But when they do, we should savor them, at least briefly.

We'll be back at it tomorrow, because our next task is making sure that the messages at the rally reflect the view of a majority of Americans - Jewish and otherwise - that the best way to deal with Iran is through tough, smart diplomacy - not saber rattling and threats of force.

Stay tuned.

- Isaac

64. While I would love to have her drop out,
I think the campaign realizes she needs way more time to prep for the debates... They know she is sliding because on ABC she displayed her total lack of ability to do anything other than parrot the Bush/Cheney lines. All the money in the world isn't going to do her any good if the whole world sees her fall flat on her face during the debates... So, on second thought, maybe she should attend those fundraisers...!

If it turns out to be some NE headline, though, I'll be happy! :9
