McCain is a grim shadow of his former self

John McCain 2008 is America 2008, sadly diminished in eight years of incompetence and failed leadership. The courageous war hero of 2000 is the cadaverous war relic of 2008. He has declined visibly in enough ways to tell us that it will all be downhill from here. He is more old mare than maverick and his confident straight talk has become enfeebled doublespeak with awkward body language. His attempt to bask in the glow of his photogenic hockeyMILF running mate only emphasizes his physical and intellectual pallor. Many young Americans are struggling with aging parents whom they will have to coax from behind the wheel but some of those same citizens are willing to put a man tragically past his prime in the nation’s highest office.
