1. I came up with a saying: It takes a lot of guts
to say "I'm rich, I can afford to pay my fair share" (John Kerry). It takes no guts at all to say "I'm rich, I think I'll give myself a big fat tax break."

2. This is the time to hit them with their own inane slogan . . .
FREEDOM ISN'T FREE!

And you can't just expect to pay with the lives of poor people, either.

5. You're going into Dukakis territory there
When republicans talk about taxes, the only way to fight them is to fight the framing. They don't want to give normal Americans any tax breaks, they only want to give the rich oil barons tax cuts. You have to fight the framing.

11. I'm sure their wording was intentional as well. I can't speak to
what Biden exactly said but his sentiment is inarguable.

The only thing we can really argue is "what is a fair share" and "are people actually paying what they are supposed to".

40% of Federal Income Taxes go to National defense, ergo paying taxes by ANYONE'S definition is patriotic.

7. Aren't we technically just going to take Bush's lame tax cuts away?
Is that why we are in this fiscally unresponsible mess? We have a huge deficit. Rethugs were in control of the congress at the time and NEVER made enough cuts. Nope, they spent and spent and spent. Now we have to end their rich buddies' tax breaks so we can balance the budget. This is deja vu all over again. Remember 1992 anyone? I do and I was only 16 then. We had a huge deficit then and Clinton and Gore barely passed a balanced budget.

12. Basically yes. Which might actually lead to a balanced budget at some point.
