Right-Wing Christians Believe God May Have Dumped Palin on Us to Start the End Times
And I'm talking about it like it's a *bad* thing!

http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/2008/09/18/palin_email/index.html?source=rss&aim=/politics/war_room

If you need a good reason to vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin in November, here it is: "Sarah is that standard God has raised up to stop the flood. She has the anointing ... Back in the 1980s, I sensed that Israel's little-known Benjamin Netanyahu was chosen by God for an important end-time role. I still believe that. I now have that same sense about Sarah Palin."

That's a quote from an e-mail that's now circulating in the evangelical community; a friend passed it on to me. As best as I can tell, the text of the e-mail was originally written by Jim Bramlett, an author and former vice president with the Christian Broadcasting Network. (You can read more about him in this WorldNetDaily article about his claim that he's obtained recordings of angels singing.)

This e-mail isn't the only instance of Palin being seen this way. Sarah Posner, who has an interesting article about Palin's time as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, in Salon today, previously wrote about this phenomenon on TAPPED: "Many evangelicals are talking about Palin being like the biblical Queen Esther, who saved the Jews from the genocidal Haman, and believe that Palin has come, like Esther did, 'for a time such as this.' (The same narrative built around George W. Bush when he was running.)"

Further excerpts from the e-mail are below.

Dear friends:

Barack Hussein Obama has taken the nation by storm. From obscurity, with zero executive experience, or much of any kind, he has vaulted into the position of Presidential frontrunner. It is stunning. On the surface, it appears attributable only to his eloquent oratory and his race. But an invisible factor may be a strong spiritual force behind him, causing some people to actually swoon in his presence...

Last week at Obama's acceptance speech, that spirit exalted itself in front of a Greek temple-like stage, and to a huge audience like in a Roman arena. Obama was portrayed as god-like. His voice thundered as a god's voice.

At the end, Democratic sympathizer Pastor Joel Hunter gave the benediction and shockingly invited everyone to close the prayer to their own (false) gods. This was surely an abomination, but it was compatible with Obama's expressed theology, and Hunter's leftist leanings.

God was not pleased...

Enter Governor Sarah Palin. With incredible timing, the very next day, Sarah Palin also appeared out of nowhere...

We quickly learned that Sarah is a born-again, Spirit-filled Christian, attends church, and has been a ministry worker.

Sarah is that standard God has raised up to stop the flood. She has the anointing. You can tell by how the dogs are already viciously attacking her. But they will not be successful. She knows the One she serves and will not be intimidated.

Back in the 1980s, I sensed that Israel's little-known Benjamin Netanyahu was chosen by God for an important end-time role. I still believe that. I now have that same sense about Sarah Palin...

Only God knows the future and how she may be used by Him, but may this noble woman serve to bring renewal in the land, and inspiration.

13. no the email is saying, Obama is the anti-Christ
At least that's how I read it. but I thought the Raptures were supposed to be excited about the end times, meaning they want it to happen so they can teleport into the sky while the rest of us bleed. So, from what I understand, Obama being the anti-Christ would be a good thing, right?

26. I watched a show on History International last night about that.
Bunch of hooey if you ask me. But they got bonus points for spending a lot of time talking to Benny Hinn my favorite Christian con-artist.

11. Reply to "I hope this sort of email . . ."
The comment that "these sorts also thought Bush was doing god's will and look at the mess we are in" may not resonate with those sorts of people, i.e., stalwart bush/shrub admin supporters/apologists. Unfortunately, what I am sensing from many right-wingnuts and arch-conservatives, especially the christian right, is that they do not see at all the mess we are in. In fact, Palin herself indicated just the other day her staunch belief in one of the most debunked lies of all--that Iraq was linked to 9/11. There seems to be a lot of blindness out there. Some of the repubs are sufficiently "protected" in these otherwise dire economic times that they literally are not aware of just how bad things are. (Of course, the stock market responses to the growing and taxpayer funded buyouts may change that.) However, it seems that there are still a lot of people who still believe all the lies that have been told, do not think that the country is in crisis (crises really) so see nothing but a comfortable continuum of what they know. Yes they are all planning to be at inaugural balls just as they were twice before. Things are fine from their perspective as soon as they get rid of this pesky Democratic challenger. Their continuing lies about Barack Obama and those they are dreaming up about Joe Biden will find their places in these uncompassionate hearts. It is our job to see that does not happen, to keep debunking the lies and keep spreading the truth.

"Sarah is that standard God has raised up to stop the flood." "She has the anointing." These people are seriously delusional if they can project all this stuff onto Palin.

These people don't need an annointing. They need YEARS of therapy.

They say "Only God knows the future" and yet THEY know it, too? Okey dokey.

Gold TOLD THEM, in English. Just like He/She told them Palin has "the anointing" (that sort of reminds me of something out of Highlander ...).

Is an idiot.

These people need to talk to a certified Bible scholar instead of the local snake charmer ensconced in the local pulpit.

Sounds like the effect every televangelist and tent preacher in Amerika has aspired to since the whole gospel-carney scam was invented. Hey! Why not? I'm down for some Obama anti-christ action this November. Who's with me?

22. Technically, Alaska is our eastern-most state ... and you can see Russia from there ...
as we all have been made aware, via Sarah ...

So, taking the fact that Alaska can be considered "the East", and the idea that the "Anti-Christ" is supposed to come from the East, and she is about the right age ... I remember a rightie talking about how the "Anti-Christ" has already been born years back ...
