Coincidence or not? Biden begins talking about his foreign policy experience on stump

Biden: Changing the subject Posted: Thursday, September 18, 2008 9:22 AM by Domenico Montanaro

Per NBC’s Ron Allen, Biden's stump speech took a new turn last night at Wooster College in battleground Ohio. The change: It was heavy on foreign policy. Biden reminded his audience he was first elected to the Senate when he was just 29, and soon became a member of the Foreign Relations Committee. Biden talked about how he's traveled the world ever since, how he knows," a significant number of world leaders by their first names," people he said he's known since the 1970's and 80's. He asked the crowd to "imagine a country that once again is the most respected in the world?"

Allen adds that it's probably no coincidence Biden was talking about his world view as Palin prepares to visit the United Nations next week. It will be her first meetings with any foreign heads of state, at a time when Palin's foreign experience is being more closely examined.

1. First debate
Didn't the first debate get switched to foreign policy? Perhaps Biden is shifting to foreign policy with reasons that have less to do with Palin than with the Obama-McCain debate next week.

3. You are thinking of Obama-McCain's debate...
there is only 1 VP debate on October 2, and that will include all issues, both foreign and domestic.

5. I think that Biden is trying to compare himself to Palin who is going to the UN to meet foreign
leaders for the first time.

4. I think he has been intentionally holding back talking about
his vast foreign policy experience.A clever strategy IMO.

2. How can you talk about foreign policy experience...
YOU DON'T HAVE???????????

Let' see her match her "foreign policy experience" next to Biden's and we'll see just who comes up very short.

6. He's setting the foundation for the debates. Often questions come from...
comments the candidates recently made. He's talking about foreign policy now to set the framework for some of the debate discussion. It's very smart.

7. If the pundits let her get away with her inexperience - I'm gonna scream.
The VP needs to be ready on day 1.
