New Poll: Indiana Obama 47% McCain 44%
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 12:00 PM by WI_DEM
Sen. Barack Obama holds a tenuous lead over Sen. John McCain in Indiana, with one in four likely voters saying they could change their mind on who to support for president, according to a new Indianapolis Star-WTHR (Channel 13) poll.

Obama's three-point lead in the poll, 47 percent to 44 percent, reinforces Indiana's status as a battleground in the race for the White House.

The poll, conducted Sunday through Tuesday by Selzer & Co. of Des Moines, Iowa, also revealed a geographic disparity between the two candidates: Obama, the Democrat, holds a 54 percent to 40 percent advantage in Indianapolis, but McCain, the Republican, leads in all other regions of the state, including Northwest Indiana.

1. If Obama takes Indiana it is over
Indiana is traditionally republican state. bush/Rove/Cheney's thousand year
reich is going to come crashing down around their ears. After that comes the
investigations and maybe the trials.

2. Indiana will change the landscape. Hagel's comments will underscore any new polling there.
Go Indiana!

5. There was just a thread on Indiana two days ago.
Somebody asked if Obama could concievably win. He was down by some seven points.

What a difference a few days makes.

9. Like everywhere, it depends on turnout.
Indiana is Republican, but it's two biggest population centers, Indianapolis and Gary/NW Indiana are ours. If he gets massive turnout in those two places he will have the numbers to overcome the rest of the otherwise red state.

6. If Obama wins Indiana, he will win Ohio.
And the election. :)

8. I like those numbers
I find it next to impossible to believe that McCain is leading in The Region (NW Indiana) or in South Bend either. They are Democratic strongholds. If Obama gets turnout in Indy and Lake County he will have the numbers to pull it off.
