Bush HAS to Win --
Because if Kerry wins, a whole of people are going to jail.

Think about that.

Bob Novak -- Outed a CIA Agent -- STILL EMPLOYED!!!

Kenny Lay -- Enron -- His lawyer wants the trial completed BEFORE the election. Gee, I wonder why? :eyes:

I am sure there are others who are known in the law enforcement community. Kerry is an ex-prosecutor, and his work on Iran-Contra is very well known. All of those people are Back In Charge. They are undoubtedly Scared Out Of Their Minds about Kerry choosing the next Attorney General -- especially with the CURRENT laws THEY have put in place. (oops!)

These people are going to be fighting tooth and nail, doing whatever they can, ethical or not, to keep Bush in the white house, because They Are Fighting For Their Lives.

The rest of us are just fighting for clean air, clean water, good jobs, health care, etc. These are ABSTRACTIONS to most people. Jail is a better motivator. :(

Not trying to be a downer. Just realistic about what we are up against.

1. Bob Novak can only vote once
Ken Lay can only vote once. While the handful of people who legitmately might go to jail if Kerry wins will be very motivated as you say, and while that block is pretty motivational, I still think we can win this if we can get enough people to the ballot boxs.

5. Its not their "one vote" that is the problem --
Its how they use their influence. Novak, for example, has a son who is the publicist for Smear Boats. Novak wrote columns saying there is legitimacy (!) in some of the charges, and has appeared on cable news "discussing" it. Kenny Boy and his buddies have money. Etc.

Of course we can win this thing, but the fact it isn't already an "in the bag" deal shows how tough the competition is. (See my 9/11 post earlier.) Its not Bush who is the problem; its the machine behind him.

I don't know what to do about that. We keep playing defense on the campaign. Even PRESIDENT Clinton had problems with these folks. (Whitewater - Monica - HELLO?) They keep taking nothing and making it into NOISE. Its driving me nuts. :(

I can't even be mad at Kerry about it. I don't know how to fix the problem, but I sure hope he and his team do.

2. Krugman agrees with you. He said they'll fight hard to win
because they know Kerry will go after them and this time do it with the power of the presidency.

8. That Might Be IT!!!
(Written after my other posts -- sorry!)

Perhaps Kerry should release a "most wanted" list! People who he promises to go after with the full power of the presidency based on information he has regarding treasonous actions and abuse of federal election law and whatever the heck else two lawyers running for office can come up with!!!

Destroy the credibility of the attackers -- "aren't you on the list for treason, Bob?"

7. Uh, NO! That's the last thing busholini will do on the way out
in January.

He'll pardon anyone who has dirt on him. Should be a pretty large number.

9. You can't pardon somebody who hasn't been charged!
And nobody will be charged while * is in office, which hopefully will be no later than January 2005.

14. Sure you can.
Ford pardoned Nixon.

Nixon hadn't been charged with anything.

* can just issue a ton of pre-emptive pardons on his way out the door, so we don't even hear about them until after Kerry sits down at the desk.

13. I doubt it.
Ken Lay might go based upon what he did. But Novak? No. His fellow journalists, regardless of which side they prefer, would start into the freedom of the press and how if Novak has to reveal his sources or go to jail they'll be next and that'll be the end of the free press.

And all the talk among some here about Bush & Co. going to jail are fantasy's. It's just not going to happen.

15. I was hoping Novak would go --
for publicly revealing the name of the spy (like the law that Bush 1 signed says), not for the "revealing his sources" stuff. The folks I'm talking about are more "background" other than Novak, of course.

Are you saying the actions of these people have been legal? No campaign finance laws broken, etc.? If so, please elaborate. (I am not being sarcastic -- I really want to know. If I've misunderstood, it is best I know the truth.) :)

18. Clarification
Did he purposely reveal the name of a CIA agent, or was he under the impression, as he claims he was told, that everyone knew who she was and what she did? Is what he did legal or illegal? That's up to the courts to decide if it even goes to court, which I personally doubt it will. If it does, I want him and everyone to have due process.

19. I think it was purposeful.
And even if it was known by everyone in town (doubtful), turning it into a google search is still treason in my book. Also, illegal according to the paperwork signed by George 1. My hope is that he's due processed all over the place -- but the fact he's even still EMPLOYED in a position that requires judgment is very upsetting to me. Things like "collusion" come to mind....:(
