The one thing I just can't be Color blind about...

Maybe I'm the only one to notice it, or maybe I've spent too much time noticing things that I miss when people post about them here, but this I can't help but notice.

I've never seen so many 'black' or 'African Amercan' commentators pushing Republican talking points.

I really hate to be so cynical... but does anyone else think that somewhere along the line the money just looks good enough for anyone to spew bullshit?

Maybe I can see it another way, but right now, it just seems that the good ole' boys just love when 'one of them' is willing to hurl the bullshit they so dearly wish they could themselves.

It just makes me sick, so forgive my inartfully expressed revulsion.

1. Republicans CONSTANTLY use AA to push their points; they for example
ALWAYS say the MLK was a republican.

2. They make use of
the Log Cabin (gay/lesbian) Republicans whenever they can. THAT bunch must be all self-hating masochists.

3. I really don't think Mychal Massie 'hates' himself....
Rather, I think he's just naturally a money-grubbing asshole.

Seriously, read that piece of crap and see if you disagree.

7. Really? I have noticed them since 2000. It's always great to watch someone who you identify with
even if they don't share your views. Perhaps, that is why I noticed and you did not?

Dunno.

11. What I noticed is that more black commentators
are phony now where they tended to be more earnest and passionate in recent history.

In the good ol' days, when you saw a black man or woman talking about current issues on the TV, you could bet they were telling it like it was far more often than they were cashing in on spewing bullshit.

Hell, even Jesse Jackson believed more than half the shit he talked about.

16. Telling it like it was? bull fucking shit! There are many Repubs in the black community.
Many of us are earning well above $150k, not all us, is poor.

Many of my friends don't care for Jesse (not all us blacks loves him) and many of us just see him as some preacher who is a talking head on tv.

20. WTF does being 'poor' have to do with anything?
And apparently you weren't even reading the post you're responding to.

You're talking about something completely different than I am, apparently.

8. Yah - you've seen all 3 of them. Predictably, that's what bothers you....
and not the racist fucks who put them on just so as to give you that jackass-stupid idea that there are more than, like, 3 of them.

10. Presumption is not your forte.
1) There are 'more than three of them'.

2) It does bother me that there are most likely a bunch of racist asshole Republican operatives in the media desperately trying to get some 'token' black folks to say shit that 'whities' can't get away with. It's rude of you to assume otherwise, but think what you want of me if it makes you feel smart.

3) It does bother me that they are putting these shills front and center more than ever before, because it means;
>>a) We're looking at people that are compromising hard won principles for money and fame.
>>b) They are undermining those hard won principles.
>>c) They might just be fooling people.

4) If you think I should just shut up and not make mention of my irritation or concern with these 'oh so few', then you are welcome to not respond to this thread.

Good night.

9. I'm reminded of what Rep. J.C. Watt's father used to say to him ...
An African-American voting for the Republicans is like "a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders."

13. Yeah, log cabiners and people like armstrong are the chickens
voting for colonel sanders and there'll always be those types. Thankfully they're in the minority and they shouldn't be fooling anyone.

If we could get rid of fascist coporatemediawhore$ our country could set itself in the best direction a lot sooner..but, what are the chances of that happening anytime soon?

14. If an alien from another planet landed on earth and did nothing but watch U.S. TV news
They'd think that the Republican party was dominated by black men and blonde white women.

My theory is that some people are easily flattered and convinced to align themselves with their oppressors, so long as they are well remunerated and get a forum to let everyone know how "exceptional" they are. Hell of a lot easier than fighting the powerful and a cushy gig if you can get it.

15. It's just one of those things.
Like using (used to be using) Fiorina to claim sexism. There's sort of a stable of (sorry if the metaphor seems poorly chosen... though, come to think of it... I think that's a term that pimps use to talk about their hookers... so maybe it's actually very apt) right wing leaning folks of every demographic that seem to get tapped to talk smack about their own... it's the Republican version of PC, methinks.
All that can be said is... try to take a deep breath, and maybe think about it as an exercise in undermining stereotypes/expanding the common stereotypes of various demographics in mainstream thought.
Yeah, I know... it's a bullshit bit of mental spin to try to keep from throwing up a little when you think about it... but it's not always an appropriate time/place to start drinking when those pundits come across your attention horizon...

18. I assume for some it's an economic calculation.
It's got to be easier to make it as a black conservative commentator than a black liberal commentator, because it's a smaller pool. The Republicans will always be on the lookout for minority commentators because they want to appear inclusive. If you're an aspiring political pundit and you're black, you've probably got a better chance at making it big if you go the conservative route.
