2. Same with my 3 year old neice
we have a joke where I give her a big kiss on the cheek and tell her she is deeee-licious. She saw a picture of Bush and said, "he NOT deee-licious."

3. Mine too.
She keeps asking when Jawn Kewwy is coming over for dinner. She has made art for him.

I was surfing on this site, and someone posted a pic of kerry in profile, back lit, but with his face in darkness. She says, 'is that Jawn Kewwy? Where his face?'

5. Mine too!
I try not talk politics around my 3 year old daughter to the point of indoctrination but I suppose she has picked up on the mood of our household. Last week in while listen to NPR in the car she told me, "I think our President isn't a good president."

7. I talk plenty politics around my kids.
When they are older, I will encourage them to read, debate and form their own opinions (but no cable news show, ever!). I don't worry about indoctrination. As long as they are free to think and read, they will be ok.

10. agree
It isn't like the subject of polotics is forbidden in the house, I just realize at 3 years old she isn't equipt yet to understand many of the issues. When those issues do come up we try to explain what we think and why and what other folks think as well.

What I try to avoid around her is my more and more frequent indignation at this administration. No matter how much I dispise our current government I DO NOT want her to get the idea that polticians are evil, or that her country is bad.

14. True.
When I go out to do voter registration, my 3 year old asks, 'where you going mommy?' I say 'out to save democracy, sweetie.' And she says, 'Can I come?' Yes!

That is more the impression of politics I want here to have. Positive action, not just helpless indignation (which is often how I feel about things these days).

9. My kids could have
written a republican speech at age six. If you've heard one of them speak, you heard all of them, just like any other cult.

11. Mine Does Too....
...what say we get them together to form a third party!

The other night my older two (13 and 11) were at the dinner table talking politics (we do that a lot at our house). All of a sudden the 3-year-old pipes up, "Bush needs spanks."

21. Doesn't Condi spank Bush
when he makes mistakes like "you cannot win the war on terror"? Maybe he likes being disciplined by her, seeing how often he mis-speaks.

She seems like the type who would enjoy spanking. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

good for her and cant wait to see her in the political scene when i am 60 something

for real, i really believe we parents need to start bringing our children into the system. let them understand their voice is important, and it is critical that they have hey, critical thinking skills. that we adults of todays world are creating such a mess for them, will be theirs to clean up. and they will do it, and do it well cause they are paying attention

16. Education Does Begin At Home
My oldest (13) almost always sits down with her dad and me to watch the news. She pays attention, asks really good questions, and we have many discussions about the current state of things, how the political process works, and the history behind it all that unfortuantely (at least where I live) is not being taught as much or as well as it should. She also reads the paper section by section, and looks at my newsmagazine when it comes in the mail.

My husband and I hope that by our examples of community volunteering and political activity, we will show our kids that they must become involved, and that they can make a difference, and that Mom and Dad care about their future.

19. ya.....oh excellent......shivers here. i love that kid
i sit in amazement with niece and couple nephews there lack of interest in their world and how it hurts them so. just to have an understanding, faith knowledge, know, that we are not powerless. we are powerful. i tell them, get out of self and help, you will be amazed how good you feel

instead they have disinterested parents. victim parents. powerless parents. and this is what they are learning to believe

there are a lot of kids out there, feeling this

i am always thrilled to hear the story of this., what you give. thanks

18. My 8 year old daughter
last night during ahhhnold's speech, said something to the effect of, "I don't know what their talking about, republican this or democratic that, but I think you should vote for the person who wants to help out the greatest number of people." I told her, "Ona, you're a Democrat." She asked what Prez. Bush is, I said, "Oh, he's a space vampire, cleverly disguised as a Republican." Now this morning on NPR, when she heard his voice, she squeeled, "SPACE VAMPIRE!!" I hope she says it at school. ;)

20. Kids definitely pick up on things
I was 4 when Jimmy Carter lost the election to Ronald Reagan. I remember crying at the news. The election was just such a big topic in our house, that there was no way I couldn't pick up on it.
