Obama Team Files Lawsuit over GOP Voter Supression Plan in Michigan

On afternoon conference call, Obama and Michigan Democratic officials say they are seeking an injunction to block alleged “caging” by the state GOP– using home foreclosure lists to seek to block residents from voting.

Obama counsel Bob Bauer: “It is an absolute attack on their right to vote” and a “completely false and completely illegal basis” to challenge votes.

“This is a standard operating procedure within the Republican party that’s been under legal challenge.”

I thought Obama was slow on this, but I was wrong, he was just going one step further than just media. Actually filing a lawsuit against voter disenfranchisement. I like this man more and more.

10. oh boy this is good. A fellow campaign worker here told me Federal Law states you

are allowed to vote in two Federal Election Cycles from a prior address, so I would anticipate the legal action is going to include this somewhere. I figured they were just putting the case together, we are after all running two exceptionally smart attorneys to lead this nation.


so if the persons were in transition beginning this year it would be 2012 before they could be refused the right to vote at their prior registration address. 2008 = 1 2010 off cycle Federal elections for congress/senate seats.

What is needed is an organized effort to reach out to these families to HELP them vote.

These people shouldn't lose their voting privileges because their homes were foreclosed. The same goes for the people who have been displaced by the hurricanes, etc.

We should be taking a whole different approach with these people. We should be reaching out to help protect their voting rights. Is there any group doing this? I haven't heard/read of anybody taking this on.
