Nice orange "W" signs -- are they a reminder that we're on orange alert?

Watching the RNC on PBS with the sound off, while I read DU. Latest crowd shots (while Laurabot speaks) showing a bunch of orange "W" signs being waved about. Just struck me as strange/funny...

(don't mind me, I probably just need another beer... :beer: )

Maybe the "stands for women" part is in small print. (I agree, :puke: )

Anyway, it was the orange color that struck me. Everything else has been all red-white-'n'-blue -- so why now the orange?

I mean, the thought of 4 more years of "w" definitely terrorizes ME, so 'orange alert' is a servicible metaphor from MY point of view -- but what's the meaning for THEM?
