What does the McCain - Palin campaign do to the Republican Party?
Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 06:08 PM by ukfordems
In many ways the McCain Palin campaign is helping to destroy the Republican Party. Even their victory will not help the RNC, because any McCain Palin victory would have been gained at the expense of their own Party.

A successful Political Party can only work if it has discipline. The continued in fighting of the Democrats during the Summer served as a valuable lesson to Democrats that was very successfully addressed at the Convention.

On top of his dirty tactics to undermine the image of his opponent, McCain has decided he can only win by attempting to be a Republican Candidate, who is not of his Party. His campaign also seeks to undermine his own Party by selling the ticket as "mavericks". What message does it send to newly elected Republicans when you promote the idea that you can get to the top of the Party by disobeying it? That you are successful if you are a maverick?

The UK Conservatives were out of power for 12 years as a result of infighting over closer links with Europe, an issue that they neither had to decide on if they had of been elected to Office and it was most certainly not an issue to fight on whilst in opposition.

The Republican Party, even if they win the Presidential election may end up in office, but most certainly not in control. Such a victory will create a lame duck Presidency, it will not be good for America and it will not be good for the World.

Just a few thoughts from across the Pond.

3. They believe they must destroy the village in order to save it. nt.
They don't give a shit what it does to the "true believers" as long as they can make them keep their place in line.

4. However Politicians are ambitious
creatures. How do you keep someone in line when you run a main campaign that says it is great to be a maverick? The Party Whips will not like it.
