I swear to God.

I thought I'd heard everything until:

Track Enfield

They're doing it again!!!! It's the Stealth Morans taking over...how many times do we have to endure stupidity of this nature?

2. I hate to admit to being "slow"
...but it took me a second to get the significance of "Enfield." I was thinking about the Enfield rifle until it dawned on me.

Actually, maybe that's not slow, just too high a humor threshold.

long story involving transfer to your State U. where we knew someone who was politically connected. We were very poor and they thought that it would be helpful to me. Didn't work out...nice people there....very progressive brilliant people (our friends). You probably know them.

18. I have been going
to FSU for a while (two undergrads, currently working on my MPH) despite the reputation from the football program, it really is a great school!

By the way, I have my A.S. in Dental Hygiene...I saw my fair share of bizarre names while I was practicing in rural (very red) areas. I guess they never read Freakonomics.

45. Hey, TD! I graduated from FSU in 1977--it is a great school. As far as
weird names, the weirdest I ever saw was a guy whose first name was Vaseline -- I was a mail carrier in TN and couldn't believe some of the names I saw. It's like mom looked at her bedside table in the hospital and said, "Hey, how about "Vaseline"?" Also had an old guy whose first name was "Doctor." I guess his mom wanted to be able to introduce him like this: "I'd like you to meet my son, Dr. Smith." Pretty amazing.

5. Exhibit 2: Trig Paxson Van Palin
As my wise Mom, (who gave all five of her kids old-fashioned names) says, the Palins didn't give their kids "people" names. They named them words, like you use for pets or inanimate objects. It's very peculiar. Life has enough annoyances without your having to explain your name to everyone you meet, or tell people who can't see you whether you're male or female.

because her mom was a cleaning lady who worked for a Jewish woman from NY. She pronounced "Hadassah" (a perfectly fine name for a Jewish lady about 90 years ago) which was the organization to which she belonged, as "Hadasser". And so it went...

Another considered naming her son Patrick Beau so he would be called P. Beau (a la Peabo Bryson).

32. It's more common for people NOT to have middle names.
There are people with two first names and then when they come here they either go by the second name or the first and say the second name is a middle name.

So, in actuality there are actually more people in the world WITHOUT middle names than with.
