Time to grow a pair
This election ain't bout' us making a difference its about getting down and dirty and playing slime ball tit for tat with the repukians.

They win...becuase they focus on the election and frame the opposition candidate as they want him to be portrayed...they do not take the hi road...they carpet bomb it.

we have not won the Whitehouse since 96 for a reason.

time to take of the gloves....i really don't want to have to move to Canada or Mexico to escape the Bible re-education camps.

1. "In conclusion, I invite the media to grow a pair.
And if you can't, I will lend you mine" Amy Poehler as Hillary on SNL. Great line.

2. Agree wholeheartedly.
As I said in another post, nice guys finish last and I'm sick of finishing behind grossly incompetent, corrupt, religio-whack jobs. Democrats continually go into these battles wanting to take the high road, only to be handed their asses by slime merchants. If the goddamn American people aren't smart enough to distinguish between the two, then then don't deserve to have the high road taken by us. We always want to fight by Marquis of Queensberry rules when the repukes are showing up for a tire-chain wielding street fight.

3. If we jump in the mud they win.
They will try to lie cheat and steal their way to an election victory AND they love it - period. We need to offer America a new set of choices - and we need to call out the republicans as LIARS every time they lie - AND we need to "work the refs" - DEMAND the media report republican lies as LIES and insist they live up to their responsibilities as a free and unfettered press.

5. Based on WHAT? 2000 and 2004?
We tried those tactics previously, and walked away with nothin' but a t-shirt.

To whom do you DEMAND that the media report on ANYTHING? If you INSIST they live up to their responsibilities, to whom do you hold them accountable when they FAIL?

You can't demand the media do anything! You have to WOO them into listening to you, and the PUBLIC will make your demands for you, by voting with their wallets and channel changers.

When Clinton said "It's the ECONOMY, stupid!" I don't think we fully understood what that meant.

7. Well for starters I happen to believe in our candidates words...
It will take all of us to win this election. Now imagine if CNN or MSNBC or ABC or CBS news got thousands of emails insisting they do their fucking job or we're switching off. Who cares - you say? Well, the whole point of big media is to deliver an audience to advertisers - that's how they make money - market share. If they lose market share they lose advertising revenue. Will they pay attention? I say yes - you will say no - so lets try an experiment. Instead of spending an hour reading and responding to Palin posts here at DU, spend 45 minutes and then spend 15 minutes emailing specific news shows insisting they honestly report McCain's lies as lies. Better yet, spend 30 minutes on DU then 15 working the press and 15 trying to convince someone that's on the fence to vote for Obama. If I'm wrong - what have you lost? 15 - 30 minutes on some internet forum? What's the next presidency of the United States worth? I say its immeasurable.

Should we be tough - oh hell yes - tough and truthful! I say use the truth like an anvil and the issues like a hammer. To me, getting in the mud = lying, cheating, and stealing to get what we want and I won't go there. Do we all have a role to play - oh hell yes! I know you care about this election and I know I care about this election - how about we both work to elect Obama?

4. We don't have to jump in mud
Telling the truth forcefully is not jumping in the mud. Exposing lie after lie after lie again and again and again is not jumping in the mud. Exposing their character, their hypocrisy, and what they really stand for is not jumping in the mud. Going on the offensive and telling the truth about evil is not jumping in the mud. Using every legal means possible to keep them from stealing this election is not jumping in the mud, IMO.

One thing that I believe for sure, if we are weak, if we are nice - in politics we lose. If we lose this election we will lose our future.
